I sent a letter to the journalist. The linked article in The Conversation doesn't actually say what is quoted. The quoted article actually reports the OPPOSITE: if Ontario's #LTC homes were fully publicly-owned we would have had HALF the COVID deaths we saw. Just for the record.

Wow…emails show Tendercare LTC, run by Extendicare (a for-profit LTC company) refused to create 20 life-saving rooms to cohort residents with #COVID19.
Extendicare said it didn’t “have the resources” but increased earnings by $40,800,000 in 2020.
It’s a question of priorities.
