INSIDE BOWEN

A Milestone in Mathematics and a Celebration of Scholarship! 🎓 Yesterday, Bowen celebrated another remarkable moment in her academic journey as Professor Oladotun Matthew Ogunlaran, the University's first Professor of Mathematics, delivered the 32nd Inaugural Lecture at the University Lecture Theatre. More than an academic tradition, this was an occasion to celebrate intellectual excellence, scholarly distinction and the enduring power of research to advance knowledge. Oladotun's research interests centre on numerical analysis, differential equations, mathematical modelling and computational methods. His scholarly contributions have focused particularly on developing numerical techniques for solving complex mathematical problems, including ordinary and partial differential equations, boundary value problems and related applications. Notably, one of his collaborative researches explored the use of mathematical modelling in understanding and managing HIV infection, demonstrating the relevance of mathematics to real-world challenges. We celebrate Professor Ogunlaran for this significant milestone and his contributions to the advancement of Mathematics at Bowen and beyond.
