Pakistan Thwarts ISKP Expansion from its Afghanistan Base of Operation
Kunar, Nangarhar and Helmand provinces of Afghanistan are acting as operational hubs of ISKP.
Following collapse of Daesh strongholds in Syria, ISKP has been shifting experienced fighters to Afghanistan, strengthening its ranks and expanding its reach.

افغانستان کے صوبے کنڑ، ننگرہار اور ہلمند داعش خراسان (ISKP) کے عملیاتی مراکز بن چکے ہیں۔ شام میں داعش کے مضبوط ٹھکانوں کے خاتمے کے بعد اس کے جنگجوؤں کو افغانستان منتقل کیا جا رہا ہے، جس سے داعش خراسان کی افرادی قوت اور کارروائیوں کا دائرہ بڑھ رہا ہے۔
13 اپریل 2017 کو امریکہ نے افغانستان کے صوبہ ننگرہار کے ضلع اچین کی وادی مامند میں داعش خراسان کے غاروں اور سرنگوں پر اپنا سب سے بڑا غیر جوہری بم، مدر آف آل بمز (MOAB)، گرایا تھا۔ اس کارروائی کا مقصد دہشت گرد تنظیم کے ایک اہم ٹھکانے کو تباہ کرنا تھا۔
2021 میں کابل پر طالبان کے قبضے کے بعد طالبان کے وہ جنگجو بھی داعش خراسان میں شامل ہو رہے ہیں جنہیں طالبان حکومت کے انتظامی یا عسکری ڈھانچے میں تنخواہ دار عہدے نہیں مل سکے۔
گزشتہ تین سے چار برسوں کے دوران داعش خراسان نے پاکستان میں اپنی دہشت گردانہ سرگرمیوں کا دائرہ وسیع کرنے کی متعدد کوششیں کیں، تاہم پاکستان کی انٹیلی جنس بنیادوں پر کارروائیوں نے ان عزائم کو ناکام بنا دیا۔
پاکستان کی داعش خراسان کے خلاف 67 بڑی کارروائیوں کے دوران 50 سے زائد دہشت گرد ہلاک اور 100 سے زیادہ گرفتار کیے گئے۔ ان کارروائیوں میں ایک انتہائی مطلوب دہشت گرد مارا گیا جبکہ مزید تین اہم مطلوب دہشت گردوں کو گرفتار کیا گیا۔
ان کارروائیوں کے ردعمل میں داعش خراسان نے پاکستان میں چھے دہشت گرد حملے کیے، جن کے نتیجے میں 42 افراد شہید اور 85 زخمی ہوئے۔
ان حملوں میں اسلام آباد کے علاقے ترلائی میں اہلِ تشیع کی مسجد پر خودکش حملہ اور بلوچستان کے ضلع مستونگ میں سیشن جج کو نشانہ بنانے کی کارروائی نمایاں ہیں۔
Pakistan Thwarts ISKP Expansion from its Afghanistan Base of Operation
Kunar, Nangarhar and Helmand provinces of Afghanistan are acting as operational hubs of ISKP.
Following collapse of Daesh strongholds in Syria, ISKP has been shifting experienced fighters to Afghanistan, strengthening its ranks and expanding its reach.
On 13 April 2017, US dropped MOAB on ISKP’s cave and tunnel complex in Mamand Valley, Achin District, Nangarhar, targeting one of group’s strongholds.
Taliban Regime’s own militants who could not secure positions on its payroll after fall of Kabul in 2021 are also moving to ISKP.
Over past 3-4 years, ISKP has attempted to expand its operational footprint into Pakistan.
However, Pakistan's aggressive intelligence-based operations have thwarted this ambition.
67 Major operations have resulted in more than 50 terrorists killed and more than 100 arrested.
1 High value target neutralised and 3 others arrested.
In revenge ISKP has carried out 6 attacks in Pakistan that resulted in 42 martyrdoms and 85 injuries.
Notable attacks included suicide bombing at Shia Mosque in Tarlai, Islamabad and targeted attack on Sessions Judge in Mastung, Balochistan.

On 22 October 2026, Indian-sponsored terrorists of Fitna al Hindustan attempted to carry out terrorist activities in District Gwadar, in the general areas of the Gabd Border Crossing and Gwadar city. By targeting these locations, terrorists sought to harm the very people they claim to represent and wanted to obstruct the development and prosperity of Balochistan.
To protect residents and clear the area, Security Forces launched clearance operations in and around Gwadar city.
In separate engagements, Security Forces foiled the terrorists' designs and their bid to undermine the writ of the state and spread their misconstrued agenda.
In the ensuing exchanges of fire, ten terrorists, including one female terrorist, were sent to hell. During the terrorist attacks one civilian embraced Shahadat and few vehicles were damaged. Operations were concluded without any loss to security forces, restoring order and writ of the state.
The coercion of a Baloch woman into this attack is a crime not only against the state but against the hurmat of Baloch women. It exposes the terrorists' cynical exploitation of Baloch women as an instrument of propaganda, intended to inflame public sentiment and lend false sanctity to their campaign.
Such tactics are contrary to Baloch and Islamic traditions, which hold women in the highest honour. The people of Balochistan have consistently rejected those who shed blood in their name, and they will see through this deception as well.
The counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of "Azm-e-Istehkam," as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace. Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies remain resolute in eliminating foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
