A dog tried desperately to jump back into his owner’s car after being abandoned on the side of the road in Long Beach, California. The dog chased the car for several blocks before eventually falling behind. A food delivery driver captured the heartbreaking moment on video, which caught the attention of Destiny Gomez, a woman who helps find homes for stray animals. Gomez searched for the dog and eventually found him hours later. She fed and groomed him before quickly finding him a foster home. “When I watched that video, it broke my heart. Teacher Rebecca Joynes has been sentenced to 6½ years in prison after being found guilty of six counts of se—ual activity with children in Manchester. The 30-year-old was accused of manip—lating multiple 15-year-old boys and became pr—gnant by one of them while she was out on bail in connection with another boy. She gave birth to the boy’s child, but the baby was taken into care within 24 hours. The first boy’s mother discovered the relationship after noticing a b—te mark on her son’s neck and confronting the school. In an impact statement, another victim said he had defended Joynes and refused to believe anything bad about her, before describing how he was “coerced, controlled, manipulated” and s—ually ab—sed. He said the experience had a major impact on him and his family, who struggled to understand how it could happen at a school they believed was a safe environment.
