A disappointing end to the game, but Sabah can be proud of that performance against Dortmund! 🇦🇿 ⚔️ 🇩🇪 A fantastic showing on the pitch, incredible support from the Azerbaijani fans, and an entertaining match from start to finish. Azerbaijani football has plenty to be proud of! 🇦🇿 ⚽ 🇮🇶

Watching Azerbaijan compete at the highest level of European football is incredible 🇦🇿 But it’s also a painful reminder of what Iraq could achieve with the right people running our FA and clubs. 🇮🇶 Today was eye-opening. Quality football, world-class stadiums and pitches, immaculate organisation. ⚽️👏 What’s stopping Iraq from reaching this level, or even surpassing it? CORRUPTION, INCOMPETENCE AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO BUSINESS RUNNING OUR FOOTBALL. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Iraq deserves so much better than this. 💔🇮🇶

Incredible fans, entertaining football and last-second equalisers. The clash between Qarabağ and Neftçi had it all! ⚽🔥 Delighted to have witnessed it in person. A big thank you to Neftçi for the invitation. Wishing both clubs all the best for the rest of the season. Let’s go, Azerbaijan! 🇦🇿

Zaid Tahseen has been unbelievable for Pakhtakor. He’s on fire - another goal for the Iraqi CB 🔥

I’m in Baku for the huge clash between Qarabağ and Neftçi, two of the biggest clubs in Azerbaijan! 🇦🇿⚽️ I knew football was massive here, but I wasn’t expecting a rivalry this intense. The atmosphere is already HEATED, and we’re still two hours away from kick-off! 🔥 Can’t wait for this one! 🤯

Where did I say anyone should be in the national team? I said the league isn’t good and many players in the lower tiers of English football would be better than some of the rubbish we see in the Iraqi league. The Iraqi national team doesn’t represent the iraqi league. Those players are the best of the best from our league.

Bangladesh have realised just how good the lower tiers of English football actually are. I’m not surprised. Now it’s time for Iraqis to realise that England’s 5th and 6th tiers are genuinely comparable to the Iraqi league. Of course, Iraq has exceptional individual talents. But when you compare the average player quality, fitness, tactics, development and overall league structure, I genuinely believe the National League has the edge. The problem? Most people have never been to England or watched non-league football. They see “Tier 5” and automatically assume it’s poor quality. League level doesn’t tell the whole story.

🇬🇧 AFC President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa on the 2027 Asian Cup: 🗣️ “We are not in a rush to make a decision on the Asian Cup scheduled for January in Saudi Arabia. We can wait until the end of November, as the situation in the region could change significantly. The tournament could be postponed to 2028 if necessary. For now, we are monitoring developments, and everything is proceeding according to schedule.”

Always great to see players make the move from Iraqi football to Europe! 🇮🇶🇪🇺 Wishing 24-year-old Elias Ghanem the best of luck after signing for FC Bashkimi 1947, who compete in the Macedonian Premier League. The winger can play on either flank. Good luck, Elias! Hopefully this is the beginning of a successful European journey. 🤝⚽
