With water diversions 23% below sustainable diversion limits, overuse is not the problem. The problem is #ausgov inaction on issues like European carp and river degradation #NationalAgRally

CEO of @Nat_Irrigators at #NationalAgRally 📣 “We can work towards a Basin where our children & grandchildren can live in rural communities that are vibrant & thriving, where they have jobs they love & people to share it with - where agriculture & the environment work together”

There is much more water in the system than when the Basin Plan started, yet they constantly want more water where's the analysis of the massive achievements already made? Say NO to continual erosion of property rights. @Nat_Irrigators #naionalAgRally
Water diversions are 23% below Murray Darling Basin Plan sustainable diversion limits. The problem is no longer overuse but government inaction on degradation drivers like European carp making our rivers sick. Say NO to more buybacks in Canberra on Tuesday nff.org.au

Farmers stand united in Canberra today to say enough is enough when it comes to policies like reckless water recovery in the Basin that will ruin their livelihoods and hollow out regional towns #NationalAgRally

Important to have the voice of agriculture heard, to stand up against policy written for activists & ideology. Balance is missing in today's political agenda. #nationalAgRally lets change the conversation for sustainability of regional Australia @Nat_Irrigators @nswirrigators

Have you considered cotton as a summer option? So interesting listening to Kieran from @CottonInfoAust talking about advances in cotton that makes it a real option for growers in more southern regions.

The 3000 billion litres of water recovered for the environment so far is showing some local benefits, but action on European carp and other degradation drivers is what our rivers need most now.

Exciting update from one of our members and a good lesson for #nswgov on how agriculture can be integral to delivering tangible environmental outcomes – but only if the policy settings and water sharing plans facilitate what the Bega community needs.
