Another Somalian food fraud figure in Minnesota is going away for a LONG time: 30 years for a $44 million scam built on fake kids' meals.
Salim Said, who ran a Minneapolis restaurant, claimed 6,000 meals a day under a federal COVID child food program. FBI cameras showed about 40 people a day.
He kept it up for 21 months, and the money went into a $1.2 million home, commercial real estate and an $87,000 pickup.
Ringleader Aimee Bock is already serving 42 years. Dozens of others have been convicted.
He wanted government-funded meals so badly. Now he’s got them, 3 a day for the next 30 years.

🚨 BREAKING | #Somaliland launches “HEEGAN 2026,” its first annual military exercise.
Led by Brigadier General Nimcaan Yuusuf Gaaxnuug, the Somaliland National Army today began the large-scale exercise in Benderwanaag, Maroodi Jeex region.
Running over the coming weeks, the exercise will involve live-fire drills using tanks, artillery, armoured vehicles and drones to strengthen military readiness and coordination.
The army plans to hold the exercise annually.

In 2006 Abdi Elmy Hersy worked as a respiratory therapist at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, Minnesota, where two female patients alleged he fondled them under their gowns during treatments and made sexual propositions.

Washington County charged him with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct and criminal abuse; he fled to Canada, obtained refugee status, and has maintained an active US arrest warrant while denying the allegations.

Hersy now styles himself Sheikh Abdi Hersy, runs a Calgary mosque, and posts frequent religious and political commentary on Somalian affairs, Somaliland, and Ethiopia from Nairobi.

Canada previously moved to strip his refugee protection over the US warrant but he successfully challenged the decision in federal court.

🚨 BREAKING: Al-Shabab now claims to have killed 413 Somalia federal government soldiers in the deadly Lower Shabelle ambush, up from its earlier figure of 321, in a new statement providing further details following its initial preliminary statement.
