Amir Timur found ordinary chess too easy, so he invented his own variant, “Great Chess” (شطرنج الكبير). It was played on a massive 10×11 board with 28 pieces per side, including camels, giraffes, elephants, and war engines, each with unique moves.

This is the statue of Sütçü İmam in Turkey, the man who shot dead the first French soldier who tried to remove the veil of a Muslim woman. Many historians state that this event led to the Battle of Marash between the Ottoman Army and French occupying forces.

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: "While a man was walking on his way he became extremely thirsty. He found a well, he went down into it to drink water. Upon leaving it, he saw a dog which was panting out of thirst. His tongue was lolling out and he was eating moist earth from extreme thirst. The man thought to himself: 'This dog is extremely thirsty as I was.' So he descended into the well, filled up his leather sock with water, and holding it in his teeth, climbed up and quenched the thirst of the dog. Allah appreciated his action and forgave his sins". The Companions asked: "Shall we be rewarded for showing kindness to the animals also?" He (ﷺ) said, "A reward is given in connection with every living creature". [Bukhari]

Did you know? Drinking coffee as a beverage originated in 15th-century Yemen, where it was used in Sufi shrines to help worshippers stay awake during long nights of devotion.

Interesting take by Kim Alkhalili on the the law of refraction knowned nowadays as Snell's Law. Alkhalili said that it should be "renamed" Ibn Sahl's Law owing to the fact this phenomenon had been explained by Muslim scientist by the name of Ibn Dahl who lived 650 years before Snellius after whom this law has hitherto been named.
Replying to @jimalkhalili
@jimalkhalili explains how Ibn Sahl actually discovered Snell’s Law, 650 years before Willebrord Snellius.

Islamic extremist...... You mean people who actually follow the Qurans teaching? Islam contributes nothing to the world besides violence and oppression. It is not compatible with America and freedom.

Barmakids, the powerful nobles of Abbasid Caliphate, were an Indianate family who became Arabised. They were hereditary head priests of Nawbahar, a prominent Buddhist monastery in Balkh. Their family name ('Barmakid') is the Arabised form of Hindavi/Indian 'Parmukh' (head).
The Billion Dirham Vizier of Baghdad The Barmakids were renowned for their extraordinary wealth and lavish spending so extravagant that it was said that their displays of luxury could even overshadow Caliph Hārūn al-Rashīd himself. Yahya ibn Khalid Barmaki was said to have golden tiles adorning the walls of his mansion, while the residence of his son, Jaʿfar ibn Yahya Barmaki, was said to have cost twenty million dirhams. Hārūn al-Rashīd once became deeply frustrated while touring Baghdad. Whenever he saw an impressive house or mansion, he was told the same thing: “It belongs to the Barmakids.” Their immense wealth, political influence, and extraordinary patronage made the Barmakids among the most powerful families of the Abbasid age. Iqbal wrote in Stray Reflections that Goethe gave him a kind of insight into human nature that he found difficult to find elsewhere. I think Goethe and Iqbal might be one of the most genuine examples of East-West dialogue we have.

Goethe was likely a Muslim. In his diary, you can see his handwriting getting better and better, you can see him comparing the 'aqida of different Islamic groups, he even had a diary marking the beginning of Ramadan, aaand he loved Sufi poetry.
