#UCC operate a policy which gives the savings made by building using energy efficient methods back to those departments. @Glucksman used some of these funds to install LED lighting throughout, further reducing their energy use.

A result of a mammoth amount of consultation with island communities this summer, this is the first Islands Plan & one of possibly 2 or 3 in existence (Croatia & possibly Japan being the others).
The Plan aims to put island communities at the very heart of policy.
As part of the #GeoAtlantic project on the west cost of Scotland we're mainly concentrating on ground and water source #heatpumps. Elsewhere @atlantic_geo partners are mapping this kind of activity.

We were impressed with @OrkneyCouncil's efficiency and forward thinking. We got to visit the Warehouse Buildings in Stromness which house the library, meeting rooms and Police office. All heated by a seawater heat pump situated under the pier. #argyllenergyhour @atlantic_geo

2/2 ...In order to make infrastructure robust enough for the exposed site, the min recommended size for a sea loop provides additional capacity & could serve more than just the hostel building.

Our marine expert established that both loops would be viable & could meet heat demand for the building but, without drilling costs, indicative costs for a sea loop were substantially lower than a ground loop & there was an added bonus with a sea loop... 1/2
