Have to go back and watch, but it looks like Matthew Schaefer became the first to play all 5 mins of overtime in NYI's 4-3 shootout win in Nashville.
Islanders gave him a breather with a timeout before powerplay at 2:17 of OT, but he was out there for all of it.
Unbelievable
According to @StatsPerform the 5:00 OT shift by Matthew Schaefer tonight was the first time a player played all 5 minutes of OT in post lockout era. @WillyD1025

One thing that really stood out to me in my conversation with Eiserman last night was just how much he cares about becoming a complete player.
His two-way game gets picked on a lot, but his growth is noticeable, and so is the work he’s put in. When we talked about that improvement, you could tell how much it meant to him.
He doesn’t just want to be known for his shot and scoring goals. He cares about becoming the kind of all-around player the #Isles can trust and that fans can be proud of.
“If you don't adapt, you can't play. The thing they say in the wild: you don’t adapt, you die [...] I’m going in there with everything I got.” — Cole Eiserman

Aitcheson trained with Horvat this summer.
“[Aitcheson's] drive & his work ethic are really impressive to me. He was doing two [skates] a day. He was doing our skates & then he would go back to Barrie & power skating. He’s really determined to try to make this team.”
