How did HR get ‘trans inclusion’ so wrong? The reckoning starts today, as we expose deep ideological capture at the HR industry body @CIPD - and its CEO’s friendship with trans activist Katie Neeves. It’s a scandal (involving knickers & the police!) 🧵(1/3)

Told you so! Businesses have made a LOT of mistakes on women's rights and single-sex spaces, but they're now leading the way on fixing them (albeit quietly). Great to know @jk_rowling sees the same trend. Let's hope public and charity sector orgs follow soon. This is getting embarrassing!

Would love to know the demographic, political and soc/ec make-up of the team behind this ad. Suspect real diversity was sorely lacking.
🇮🇪 The Irish state has published an advert discouraging grandparents from hugging their grandchildren, as part of a campaign designed to promote "consent".

Prediction: This law will *harm* the career prospects of people who ID as trans. Why? Employers won't want the risk of having them in their workplace, if they can't talk about any issues that arise. This group will be unemployable.

I went to this session with a fairly bog standard left wing 'stay and make a noise' argument. I'm still not convinced that's entirely wrong. But I was struck by the number of women ex-trade unionists who spoke about the depths of betrayal, disrespect, and even contempt that they've faced. I think many union leaders are isolated from their members by a kind of crisis of internal democracy - they live in a bubble and they don't have any real conception of the antipathy that is felt towards them both by women members and this who have left. This is really serious. And really bad for the labour movement. So, reflecting.
A discussion about the failure of unions in the face of GC harassment. @DarlingtonUnion's Bethany's talk amazing. She ended with unions have abandoned us to let's rebuild. @RosieDuffield1 smash the unions? Yes. @runthinkwrite distinguish between leadership and role of trade unionists "I don't need an additional HR department that I pay subs to for them to police my views" @JimButcher2 had to leave the union for moral grounds because of their support for harming children. Set up a branch of Academics for Academic Freedom.

Prediction: any org that hasn't shelved its staff networks yet... is about to regret it.

It's about time @NHSEngland cut ties with its staff networks once designed to engage with better work conditions, now political activist groups dictating policies that are harmful to women and girls. Worse than trade unions and taxpayers are footing the bill. @IsntWorkingPod

Glad to have brought some good news to #BattleFest this year! Thanks to everyone who came to listen to Free Speech Nation with @joshxhowie yesterday
"Woke is not dead but no debate is... resulting in a patchwork of progress," @IsntWorkingPod Tanya de Grunwald with a very astute analysis of disaster area of universities & large organisations with "activist cells" inaugurated as staff groups. @acadofideas #BattleFest

Yes but no. It's not endless. It's ending.

There's no end of these organisations is there? All doing staff training, getting grants to so sweet fa, giving each other awards. It's an endless grift.

Pretty sure Trans In The City have never opened their 'gala'(!) to the public before. Surely they aren't desperate to fill the room this year? 🤭

Instinctively we know this. In every organisation there’s compulsory continuing professional development. In education we listened, played the games, quietly checked phones, doodled, shared answers, & escaped as early as possible to get on with the real work, another box ticked.
How did employers get 'trans inclusion' (and DEI) so wrong? Because leadership failed. So... Why did leadership fail? Answers are emerging. Here is corporate strategist Paul Sweeney, who we interviewed for our new 'Working Bites' series on This Is Working, our new online platform. This is how we find our way out of the mess we're in.

Excellent point. As evidence that leadership development courses don’t work, one only has to look at the decline in BBC senior leadership. Courses kept being done. Yet few of the leaders seemed able to think critically/think for themselves.
