Portraits of the Bagheer Group at the Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre (CRCC)! 🐾This coalition of five bonded male cheetahs includes Bagheer, Cizi (or CZ), Darth, Shamsi and Astur -- all rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in 2020. Over time, the five #cats formed a bonded group. Similarly, male #cheetah siblings also typically remain together in the wild. While females lead a largely solitary life, male siblings stick together in groups called coalitions. In the wild, these groups help to boost hunting success and offer extra protection from threats, like other large predators. Since 2023, the Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre (CRCC) in Geed-Deeble has been the primary intake point for cheetahs rescued from the illegal wildlife trade and cases of human-wildlife conflict. Staff at the CRCC provide individualized care to rescued #cheetahs of all ages, from young cubs to seniors. 📷= captured by Nathalie Santerre (lead keeper at the CRCC in Somaliland) Want to learn more?
