Um..🤯. Freeze dried tissue preserves chromatin for centuries! “…we dehydrated the tissue first. The architecture was fine….Ran over it with a car, had a former Astros starting pitcher throw a fastball at it, fired a shotgun at it. Still fine.”
It’s finally out! 🥳 Today @cellcellpress we report non-mineral fossils of ancient chromosomes in skin from a woolly mammoth that died in Siberia, 52,000 years ago. 🦣💨 Don’t miss our thread below! 🧵👇🏽

There’s a frequent perception among recent entrants to drug discovery world that if we could just find drug candidates faster, this will be a useful accelerant to the overall process. The issue is: this thinking is mostly (but not entirely) incorrect. 🧵 1/

Excited to share recently published work with @KelseyMWheeler and a great team looking into how mucins influence oral microbial communities!
One of the many pros of living with @chloemwu is that I now have a surprisingly deep appreciation for mucus. Read all about how mucins affect our oral microbiomes in her recently published paper! :) nature.com/articles/s41522-0…

Not sure whether to be amused or infuriated that GOP is calling not just for defunding but total abolition of a major law enforcement agency & it won’t get even 1% of the coverage or mainstream outrage or political-price-paying as some lefty activists saying ‘defund the police.’

Biotech has been depressing lately, but some positive things have recently shown signs of life: 1. ARGX APLS raising $$ on data. 2. Hated IGMS gets a nice deal. 3. SRRA and ATRS M&A.

A good summary of the AB*56 mess, which is all bad but has a more nuanced relationship with the overall (also messy) ABeta field than is coming through in some other postings.

This is not the time to dunk in people in the south/Midwest who are losing the right to a legal abortion. States like Texas are not red states, they are oppressed states. These people need your help, not your derision.

So I guess the CDC & FDA snoozed through their massive testing f*ck-up in Dec-March 2020 and decided to change nothing. #PandemicUnpreparedness
I have spent the last 24 hours trying, with every contact, I have, to get someone I know tested for Monkeypox; his case is TRAVEL ASSOCIATED with KNOWN RISK FACTORS, and still @nyulangone refused to test his "abnormal HPV-like lesions" because they're internal.
