A woman’s business journey is shaped by the support she receives at home. Under the GROW Project, @reclaiming69594 is preparing to conduct household dialogues with women entrepreneurs and their families, creating space for honest conversations about shared responsibilities, household finances, and business ambitions. Together, we will explore how everyday decisions can give women more time, support, and opportunity to grow their enterprises while building respectful, peaceful homes. We look forward to listening, learning, and helping families agree on practical steps forward. @CARE @CAREUganda @Mglsd_UG @PSF_Uganda #GROWProject #WomenEntrepreneurs

Today’s #GROW engagement in Tororo felt different. Usually, I sit with rural women entrepreneurs to listen and discuss the challenges they face. Today, they began by showing us what they are already creating. They laid out their products with pride, and one thing they said stayed with me: “There is a lot more where this came from.” That changed the direction of our conversation. We didn’t spend our time speaking about policies and strategies. We spoke about what it would take to move their businesses from where they are today to where these women dream of taking them. I love engaging with women who are already building something, often with limited resources but with so much skill, determination and belief in what they can achieve. The question I am taking away is: How can our work under GROW help these women sustain and grow the businesses they have already started? I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together. 💛 @grow_ug @CARE @CAREUganda @UNDPUganda @UWEAL_Ug @Mglsd_UG @reclaiming69594

This dialogue made me pause and rethink how we deliver digital skilling across Uganda. Listening to different stakeholders share their approaches reminded me how much we can learn from one another—and how much more we could achieve through stronger collaboration. In my work with rural communities, I keep coming back to one question: does the training we offer help someone find work, grow a business or earn a better living? At @reclaiming69594 , that question shapes the partnerships we want to build: practical, inclusive learning that responds to people’s realities, with progress measured beyond attendance and certificates. I left with fresh ideas and a stronger commitment to turning digital skills into meaningful livelihood opportunities. @BritishCouncil @UCC_Official @UKInternational @UKinUganda @48percent_org

“We reject the idea that safety and privacy are in competition or somehow in tension with each other. We believe that secure and private communications actually keep people safe, and putting that at the forefront of the conversation around safety is absolutely critical.” Our president and CEO, Sally Wentworth, sat down with the president and CEO of @CenDemTech, Alexandra Givens, to discuss the challenges facing the open Internet, the future of technology governance, and more. Lately, one thought keeps running through my mind: what if we built an AI avatar linked to #MOBIMOCC ? I’m imagining it helping explain lessons in local languages, making learning and useful information easier to access for rural communities. Still an idea, but one I’m excited to explore. Technology means more to me when it helps people learn in ways that feel familiar.

I left yesterday’s digital literacy dialogue with something bothering me: the tax burden on smartphones. We talk about getting more Ugandans online, building digital skills and taking services digital. But how do we expect people to participate when buying the device itself feels like a punishment? From my work with rural communities, I know how much access to a phone can mean. It can help someone learn, find a market, access information or ask for support. For a person already stretching every shilling, the cost of that device matters. I understand the need to raise revenue. But I struggle to reconcile our ambitions for digital inclusion with a tax burden that makes smartphones harder to afford. This deserves an honest conversation with @URAuganda and our policymakers. If we want more Ugandans to participate in the digital economy, affordability has to be part of the plan. Who are we leaving behind before the learning even begins? #DigitalInclusion

It was a pleasure being a part of this then
Today, the Minister of State for Information @Hon_Ssebugwawo was the Chief Guest at the Digital Skills Dialogue on Strengthening Uganda’s Digital Skills Ecosystem. She emphasized the need for affordable access, relevant training, digital inclusion and stronger partnerships to equip citizens with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship and effective access to public services. “Digital transformation must translate into real opportunities for every Ugandan.” She mentioned. #DigitalUganda #DigitalSkills

I spent the day with @BritishCouncil , @UCC_Official @UCC_ED @MoICT_Ug @DrakeMirembe and other stakeholders discussing all things digital in Uganda Great conversations on digital skilling, inclusion and how we can make digital opportunities more accessible to communities across the country. Glad to add my voice and learn from others working towards the same goal. @reclaiming69594 #DigitalInclusion #DigitalSkills #Uganda

Great to be at Mestil Hotel & Residences representing at the Digital Literacy Dialogue: Strengthening Uganda’s Digital Skills Ecosystem. As we look to accelerate digital inclusion through initiatives like the Skills for Inclusive Digital Participation (SIDP) project, building digital skills goes hand-in-hand with ensuring robust infrastructure security, system resilience, and compliance. For a digital economy to thrive, safety and integrity must be built into the foundation of literacy programs from day one. Excellent collaborating with the @UgBritish, @ubctvugandarbx (UCC), and the @MoICT_Ug to ensure that as we empower individuals with new tech skills, we are also fostering a secure, trustworthy environment for everyone to participate. @48percent_org @_AfricanUnion @UNDPDigital @UNSpotlight @smartgirlsug

Earlier this month, I facilitated an inspiring session with the @CIVICUSalliance Innovation Community on Civic Tech & Localised Innovation. The biggest takeaway? Innovation shouldn’t be built for the few. If we don't design for real world barriers like internet access, phone credit, or literacy, we risk deepening digital repression. True civic tech must build trust, look beyond capital cities, and count the people who are not in the room. Huge thanks to speakers Kritika Ghimire, Nensi Dragoti, and Safia Khan for showing how localized tech (from IVR to voice tech and artivism) turns struggle into solidarity. Let’s keep building spaces that serve everyone. ✊🌐

Great works Team !
Today in Kibuku, Imagined Spaces Initiative joined Kibuku district local government officials and officials from the @Mglsd_UG for a coordination engagement under the GROW Project. We discussed how to better coordinate support for women entrepreneurs, map available services and agree on commitments to address the barriers women face in growing their businesses. This engagement forms part of our work under the #GROW Project across Bukedi, in collaboration with @CARE , district local governments and the Ministry. This engagement continues throughout the entire Bukedi region @IvanPinno @PSF_Uganda @FOWODE_UGANDA @UN_Women @GBVnet @AU_WGYD

Seeing my work with #MOBIMOCC featured by @dw_akademie means a lot to me. I’ve always wanted technology to serve people who are too often left out. That’s what keeps me building; helping someone access information and GBV support through a simple phone, in a language they understand. Thank you, DW Akademie, for sharing this story.
