IT IS MAD - There is no statutory duty of care in HE Bristol successfully argued they didn't have D of C May 2022. The judge said if there was 1 they would have been in breach IT IS MAD - This law has not been passed before It is so overdue The excuses are frankly bollocks

Thanks so much @TimFarron for your heartfelt speech in the #StatutoryDutyofCare debate. We can all be quite cynical about politics, but I thought the sensitive and sensible cross-party debate showed @UKParliament at its best. We now just need to get the Minister on board...

A privilege and an honour to speak last night in Parliament in memory of Oskar Carrick who died by suicide two years ago in his halls of residence at uni. I wholeheartedly support his parents' campaign for universities to have a statutory duty of care for their students.

Its not hostile to hold institutions to account for collective failings. The sector continues to highlight its resistance to learn from past mistakes and remains defensive. Our children's lives were not anecdotes.

.#DutyofCare in #HE isn't about throwing money/Mental Health services at students. It's about HOW institutions care for students: a framework of clear best-practice policies, effectively applied and rigorously audited. Why wouldn't any uni want this? #Forthe100 #LEARNnetwork #UUK
