Very intriguing to see what the committee will do with the middle of the pack teams when it comes to the rankings… I think there’s a scenario where #LSU doesn’t drop as far as people think. They dropped a close game (outside of eight minutes) to the #5 team in the country while teams that will be seen similarly to them got walloped and in the case of Ole Miss, that’ll be their third blowout loss. I think the only teams that will unequivocally be ahead of LSU on Tuesday night are Georgia, Utah, Notre Dame, UCLA, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, Miami, Kentucky, Indiana, Wake Forest, USC, and Texas Tech (if they beat West Virginia tonight). I think there’s a realistic scenario that the Tigers actually only drop 0-4 spots due to potentially moving ahead of both Ole Miss and Ohio State… Ole Miss because of them getting blown out three times and Ohio State for losing two in a row coupled with not having their starting QB for the rest of the season. They’ll probably end up 16th-20th if I had to guess, though. As horrendous as today was, their season is very much still out in front of them and their playoff path is still in their hands — they’ll have another top-five team coming into Death Valley, next Saturday and will go on the road to face a potential third-straight top-five team in two weeks. Unlikely that they win both (if not, either) of these next two games — but it’s still in their hands. Unbelievable how insane college football has been this season.
