๐Ÿ“ข UPDATE: Today Iโ€™ve written to the APPG on Long COVID. Iโ€™ve asked them to bring my independent #petition and open letter to the UK Prime Minister to the attention of decision-makers, and to ensure our voices are heard. #LongCOVID needs a properly funded national strategy. ๐Ÿ’›

Great poster! #PEM #PESE #PENE ๐Ÿ™
Our poster from the ISLC-PAIS conference: PEM is characteristic of and unique to ME, and is equivalent to PENE as defined by the ICC. Required to be prolonged, disproportionate, systemic, may be delayed, can cause lasting functional decline ๐Ÿงต positivenutrition.ie/wp-contโ€ฆ

A long๐Ÿงตbut itโ€™s brilliant. We had hoped that following criticism of the UKโ€™s IPC on covid transmission at @covidinquiryuk that future guidelines would reflect current evidence & ensure safety for all in healthcare settings A spectacular failure from Scotland
๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟNEW IPC GUIDANCE Scotland has quietly introduced a brand new approach to respiratory infection prevention & control in healthcare. This change has MAJOR consequences for both patients & staff. The story behind it is quite extraordinary so grab a cuppa & Iโ€™ll explainโ€ฆ ๐Ÿงต

The #COVIDInquiry has shown the serious failures in #SocialCare during the pandemic. Disabled people paid an unacceptable price when social care was treated as an afterthought. #DisabledPeople must be involved to shape these reforms. Read our response: tinyurl.com/bdh4m9nj

I will say this- again. In a safety critical 'industry' like healthcare? Lesser trained staff usage-at scale-will cause harm. You will 'get away with it' a lot of times. Yet all it needs is 'one miss'. And the higher training reduces the chance of that 'one' - it's what training is all about. If you don't understand that? You fail safety issues And you fail as an educator and trainer. Thank you @JanetEastham for continuing to raise the issue. The irony? Every single person responsible for such decisions regards 'what the public can have' - reaches out to a doctor when they need help for their loved one. 'Cake for me. None for you.'
Dylan Cope died after an A&E nurse practitioner mistook his abdominal pain for flu, having ignored his GPโ€™s referral for suspected appendicitis. His family thought she was a doctor. A coroner found he would have survived had a senior doctor examined him. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10โ€ฆ

YOUR ATTENTION: ๐ŸšจEvery new COVID-19 (re)infection elevates your cardiovascular risk profile. Even mild cases can raise the odds of a heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and other CV events for months to years afterward. Risk is higher with more severe illness, yes, but itโ€™s certainly not limited to severe disease. Updated vaccination will show some mitigation(infection severityโ†“) but doesnโ€™t give you a risk-free pass! #AvoidSars2 #AvoidReinfections #UpdateVaccination โžก๏ธSupportive links: 1. TW suicide & #LongCovid research ๐Ÿ‘‡ When previously advocating with #LongCovid groups this is something we warned about in our written U.K. government submissions @WorkingWithLC We must have #SuicidePrevention @LC_Physio @SupportingHH_UK
Sometimes it is with a heavy heart that the increasing relevance of particular research projects is brought home. So too with our funded project on "living death, social death and #suicide amongst #LongCovid patients in the Netherlands and Germany".

Fantastic information from @UKPoTS on #PoTSAwarenessDay Many of our #LongCovid members suffer with this debilitating condition Educational resources for both patients and HCWs on their website potsuk.org/
1/5 Happy 7th ๐ŸŒŸ#PoTSAwarenessDay๐ŸŒŸ Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) can be a life altering and debilitating health condition. #PoTS is an abnormality of the autonomic nervous system, which controls all bodily functions that we donโ€™t have to think about. Individuals experience orthostatic intolerance, which means that they mostly experience symptoms when in an upright position. The majority of people with PoTS also have other related medical conditions such as hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, allergies, Long Covid and ME/CFS- all of which can make symptoms worse. If you are new here please take the time to view the image thread below to learn some basics about PoTS: ๐ŸŸฃ Symptoms ๐ŸŸฃ Tests/Investigations/Diagnosis ๐ŸŸฃ Treatment- lifestyle changes & medication View our website to learn more about symptoms: potsuk.org/about-pots/symptoโ€ฆ #MedTwitter #TeamGP #ChronicIllness #LongCovid #InvisibleIllness #MECFS #EDS #MCAS @DrSdeG @elisaperego78 @DrSarahJarvis @mermhart @cpgale3 @LongCovidAdvoc @LC_Physio @MEAssociation
