I started as a non-paid intern at a sports agency after grinding out law school. So did my biz partner @JD_Sully. We offer internships of all kinds @Poker_Royalty @LasVegasAgency Attitude, effort and hustle always get rewarded.
You are replaceable, until you are not.
If you are trying to build a brand and get to the status where you actually warrant pay for views, then it’s in your best interest to take the worst of it.
They use you, while you are using them.
Early in my career I answered 50-100 personal emails a day to grow a grassroots brand. For free.
WPT asked me to host “Hollywood Homegame” 6 days of work for $250.
They were using me, but I was also using them. If I didn’t do it, someone else would.
I saw the benefit for my own brand to get that exposure, and they “get to” underpay me as a result.
My advice to those wanting to build a brand for sponsorships or access to good streams or private games:
Be easy to work with, accommodating, and a long term thinker.
Take the worst of it until you no longer have to and reap the benefits in the end.
You are replaceable…

Vin Scully was as kind in real life as he was on the air. When I called him Mr. Scully, he quickly responded, “call me Vin”. Went out of his way to make everyone in the room feel special. The greatest broadcaster to ever live.
