Gov. Beshear announced today that he has extended his executive order that reduced the gas tax by 10 cents and resulted in lower gas and diesel prices across the state for 33 cities and counties where local officials requested an extension.

Here's an important issue related to the proposal to cut employee health insurance in the House budget. The legislature has taken $1.017 billion from the KY Employees Health Plan in recent years to balance the state budget. That money would otherwise be there to help cover costs.

Just so everyone is aware. U.S. Department of Energy authorized Duke Energy to direct data centers and other large facilities to switch to their onsite backup generators. This "islanding" process removes their load from the grid to prevent blackouts and free up electricity for residential and essential services amid high demand from extreme cold and storm damage. I understand some of you are frustrated but we are all in this together, I mean the grid. Overuse can lead to blackouts which leads to more blackouts. Being mindful of our energy use for a few hours can save lifes.
