Subhash Banerjee, MD, FSCAI presents "Lipoprotein(a) Identifies Residual Cardiovascular Risk in NIH Randomized Trials". Pooled NIH analysis (n=20,070): Lp(a) ≥175 nmol/L independently associated with ↑ MACE (HR 1.31), CV death (HR 1.49), and stroke (HR 1.64) over ~4 yrs, with greater effect in established CVD. Elevated Lp(a) identifies residual cardiovascular risk despite standard therapy, particularly in patients with established disease—supporting more aggressive risk modification and future targeted therapies.
