🇺🇦 PUTIN'S MOST DANGEROUS ENEMIES IN THE UKRAINE WAR MAY BE WEARING RUSSIAN UNIFORMS.
Some of the bravest people fighting Putin's war are RUSSIANS themselves—secretly working for Ukrainian intelligence, risking their lives and those of their families to undermine Moscow's invasion.
In my new column for Britain's @theipaper, I examine these extraordinary "HERO SPIES" and their critical role in a new era of warfare.
After a career at the CIA confronting Russian intelligence, I have enormous respect for those willing to defy an authoritarian system from within.
🔹 THE PARADOX OF MODERN WARFARE: AI, drones, satellites, cyber operations, and precision weapons are transforming the battlefield. But they cannot replace the courage and access of a single well-placed human source= HUMINT as we call it in the business.
👉As I write:
"Satellites can show where the tanks are. A spy can tell you where they are going—and why."
From Cold War heroes like Gru Colonel Oleg Penkovskiy and "Billion Dollar Spy" Adolph Tolkachev, to today's Russian agents working for Ukraine, the lesson remains the same:
--Sometimes the greatest threat to a dictatorship comes from within.
⚠️Russia is NOT just Putin and his ruthless security services. There are courageous Russians--not many, not enough, but still a courageous few--- fighting for a different future.
Drawing on recent reporting in the WSJ, as well as a terrific @BBC documentary ("The Shadowmen", which I was honored to consult on some of the intel aspects for)....my latest piece for i Paper focuses on espionage, courage, and why HUMAN INTELLIGENCE remains indispensable.

☑️Espionage is not going away with the "revolution in military affairs" underway in the Ukraine war...it is only growing alongside it.

Imagine seeing a news report that a Ukrainian soldier murdered three NATO troops. Sounds explosive, right? It was fake, part of a Russia-linked disinformation campaign. Moscow doesn't need missiles to weaken NATO. Sometimes a convincing lie is enough. #CIA #Russia #NationalSecurity

The rules of the road when it comes to Trump’s relations with foreign leaders are clear: He may trash you. But woe unto you if you whack back. No one knows that better than Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky.

Traitor Trump intends to pressure Zelenskyy into a "peace deal" on war criminal Putin's terms.
According to the NYT, the White House is ramping up pressure to secure agreement on territorial concessions.
Simply put, Putin's bitch Trump wants Ukraine to surrender to Russian terrorists.
Hopefully, the American people impeach him in November.
