In case you're wondering how far behind the USA is on infrastructure, France is building 120 miles of automated subway lines with 65 stations for $45 billion in 17 years.

Despite all the unresolved structural issues we face in Europe, I still prefer living here than in the US. But prefer to have my investments in the US.

BlackRock, $BLK, CEO Larry Fink: "Today the G7 average debt-to-GDP is 129%. No matter how much we tax, how much we cut or reduce that debt, it will not be enough... This is why building new infrastructure is critical, especially through public-private partnerships."

🚨Truflation US Inflation Update for May 2024 Over the last couple of months, US inflation has been holding relatively stable, while consumer spending has weakened. The data suggests that the elevated pace of price increases could last longer than expected, but it appears more likely that tepid consumer spending will keep a lid on inflation in the months ahead. Restraining demand continues to be the key target for policymakers as they strive to gently drive inflation back down to its 2% target without tipping the economy into a recession – a delicate balance. The year-over-year (YoY) inflation, as reported by the BLS, rose to 3.2% in February and again to 3.5% in March before holding relatively steady at 3.4% in April. Meanwhile, some key economic indicators are pointing to an economic softening. For example, business activity in the US manufacturing sector contracted at an accelerated pace in May, with the ISM Manufacturing PMI dropping to 48.7 from 49.2 in April, compared to a projected rise to 49.6. In general, readings below 50 indicate a contraction. More: truflation.com/blog/public-p…

South Korea alone gets more patents than Europe. We are on a journey to become open-air museum, but hey let’s think what else we can regulate.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Germany, France and the UK combined have more patent applications than South Korea. The above study doesn't take into account that in European countries, patent applications can use both their own country's patent offices as well as the EPO. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Int…

The Fed now admits some countries are moving to gold. But says it’s a small group. 🇨🇳 China: 1.4B 🇮🇳 India: 1.4B 🇷🇺 Russia: 144M 🇹🇷 Turkey: 85M That “small group” represents 3B people. So 37.5% of the world is moving away from dollars towards gold.
In today's post, the authors note that the narratives about declining dollar shares in official reserves, and increasing roles for gold holdings by central banks, inappropriately generalize the actions of a small group of countries. nyfed.org/4aEeaOv
