My honest thoughts after 24 hours with the iPhone Duo:
Pros:
• The big screen is amazing
• Finally a foldable inside the Apple ecosystem… my family doesn't have to change anything
• The nano texture feels like glass, not plasticky
• The front screen is super compact
• It doesn't slip… I can basically use it without a case
• Back camera selfies with the Ultra Wide are so handy (nothing new for foldables, but still)
Cons:
• The hinge feels premium but… different
• Battery isn't great yet (it's still indexing)
• It gets a little hot, probably from that too
• The back button is on the right in optimized apps and on the left in unoptimized ones 😅
• It's heavy, but not break your hand heavy
Surprise: I don't miss Face ID like I thought I would.
I still think the Fold 8 is better in a lot of areas… but this feels like my main phone until the Duo 2 😅😅
I'm glad I went with this color, it looks really nice in person… although black would've been a better option for me
Apple just put touch on the MacBook Pro…
and I'm the guy who hates when people touch my Mac screen 😅😅
I'll keep using the trackpad like a normal person
I've dropped my Samsung foldables more times than I want to admit… and other than scratches, they were fine 😅😅
The only one that actually broke was my Pixel 9 Pro Fold
My PITAKA on the Duo is just for scratches… so I'm hoping I never test it
🚨 Dropped with an Apple Duo Case! 📱
A user shared that his iPhone Duo fell off his bike while riding. Despite having Apple’s own case, the front cover popped off on impact, leaving significant scuffs along the display’s left edge and damage around the hinge. Thankfully, the screen remains intact. With AppleCare+ and a return deadline approaching, what are his options?
I’m having this weird issue where my AOD keeps getting turned off on my iPhone Duo even though I have the setting turned on. Not sure what’s going on here.
Does anyone else have that issue? This is something that happens to me on Samsung and it drives me crazy!
I mean, the iPhone 18PM can break; any phone will break when you don’t use it properly. And if you use it properly and it breaks, Apple will exchange it. That is what warranty is for, right?
I’m honestly getting tired of all these “your iPhone Duo screen is going to break” comments.
The whole situation feels blown way out of proportion. Maybe 30-50 reported cases out of potentially hundreds of thousands sold.
I watched a brutal durability test yesterday, with water, coke, sand, and bending backwards with sand cracking inside, and Duo survived it all. Most owners seem to have no issues so far.
Can we stop acting like every Duo is about to break?
If you're not a tech reviewer with a review unit…
please don't flick your iPhone Duo open with one hand 😅😅
I've been on foldables for 5 years and I've never done it… I just don't see the point
Use both hands like a normal person 😂😂
Apps updating for the iPhone Duo one by one…
Grok @bot just joined the list 😅😅
Final Cut used to be one payment and done…
Now the best new stuff lives in a subscription
I get why Apple does it, I just miss buying something once 😅
and last update of the day: There's a new integration with MotionVFX into FinalCut and more updates to the Creator Studio.
• Updates arrive in November, free for existing subscribers
• Final Cut Pro: MotionVFX built in (templates, titles, transitions, graphics, rotoscoping, tracking, color grading)
• Final Cut Pro also gets a Content Hub with stock footage, text-to-image generation, Pixelmator Pro round-trip editing, more keyframe easing options and 23 new transcription languages
• Motion: MotionVFX plug-ins and a new Displacement filter
• Compressor: encodes Cinematic mode video from the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo
• Pixelmator Pro: Generate Fill (circle an area, describe the change, and it matches lighting and texture)
• Logic Pro: Liquid Glass redesign, a beta AI assistant (Apple models + OpenAI), a new browser that auto-tags sounds and includes Splice, and drum isolation in Stem Splitter
• Keynote, Pages and Numbers: beta AI assistants, MCP support so outside AI agents can edit documents, and a new open .keyx format for Keynote
• AI features need the version 27 operating systems and U.S. English
• $12.99/mo or $129/yr; 3 months free with a new Mac or qualifying iPad; $2.99/mo for students and educators
Went back and forth on Duo cases for days… landed on the @PitakaGallery aramid case. Light, covers the back and camera, adds some grip and feels really nice in the hand 😅

Good to see Apple owning this one… if your Duo's inner screen acts up, AppleCare will replace it. Mine is fine so far 🤞🤞 but I'm checking that crease every morning now 😅
IP67 on an iPad mini… honestly that's the only line a dad needs to read 😅😅
Looks like this is going to be a week of Apple press releases, starting today with the new OLED iPad Mini
- 8.5" OLED display
- A20 Pro chip
- "Acoustic display" instead of speaker grilles
- IP67 rating
- N1 and C2 chips
- Starting at $699 (+$200 from last gen)
My take: WAY better screen, WAY better chip, so a very welcome refresh. Very curious to try this audio system. but also I can't find any mention of 120Hz or ProMotion on the website, so.... 60Hz?

Apple just gave the iPad mini an OLED screen… and honestly, with my iPhone Duo in my pocket, the mini is a harder sell than ever 😅😅 If you already have a foldable, would you still get one?
I'm not sold on the Dynamic Island on the iPhone Duo yet… 😅 On the side like this, it cuts off basically everything that isn't artwork. Even my fantasy football score gets chopped 😅😅
I have to give it to Meta… Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads and Muse all already work great on my iPhone Duo 😅😅 day 2 and they feel made for it
I really hope that Apple keeps getting all the feedback and keeps fixing stuff. Hardware is really good, but there are a few software things that I would love for them to fix, and this is one of them.
