Demeco Ryans & Nick Caserio both touched on penalties as a major issue for the Texans heading into their bye, but will these issues actually get fixed?
Since 2023, the Texans are the 4th most penalized team by accepted penalties & 3rd highest yards given up on penalties via @SumerSports.
The Texans penalties per game have actually increased every year since 2023.
2023 - 6.7
2024 - 7.1
2025 - 7.5
2026 - 8.3
They are currently on pace to have 141 penalties and 1,233 yards given up on them this year which would have both been the 2nd highest last year.
There is a real chance for Woody Marks here if Xavier Hutchinson gives him a better toss.
Pretty nice call from Nick Caley here considering the situation.
Jabari Smith Jr. has been excellent to start this season for the Rockets.
17/7 with 2 stocks on 51/41/83 from the field so far. He's developed into such a nice role player who can have big nights scoring as well.
The Rockets have loved this post action with Sengun and working off-ball to their shooters.
San Antonio saw this with FVV & Amen now you have KD & Reed with Dort not in position to get a good contest here. Could turn this into a DHO for Reed as well.
I really just do not understand what Tremon Smith is doing here on 3rd down.
Texans get into their pressure package and send 6 with NY having 6 in the protection. You are trying to force the ball out quicker here on a 3rd & 9 which you can see from how Stingley plays it.
Watching Houston’s defense in the secondary and trying to tackle, it looks like a poorly coached unit.
The Texans season would be looking a lot different if they took care of business against a tanking Colts team & Giants at home.
They got 3 turnovers vs the Colts & 2 bad missed field goals vs the Giants. Just embarrassing losses.
No Sengun or Adams for the Rockets tomorrow in Milwaukee.
Clint Capela and Jabari Smith Jr. will likely get the bulk of the center minutes for Houston with some potential Oscar Tshiebwe minutes mixed in.
Houston has a back to back with Dallas and OKC this upcoming Friday & Saturday.

Rockets injury report at Milwaukee:
-- Alperen Sengun (low back soreness) is OUT.
-- Steven Adams (Right Soleus Strain) is OUT.
-- Marcus Smart (left forearm strain) is QUESTIONABLE.
The 2 man lineup of Alperen Sengun & Fred VanVleet has absolutely dominated teams so far.
- 47 Minutes Played
- 132.99 Offensive Rating
- 95.88 Defensive Rating
The Rockets have under a 100 defensive rating with Sengun on the floor so far this year.
Texans current draft haul as we approach the trade deadline:
- 5
- 74
- 111
- 186
- 189
- 206
- 239
That ranks them 25/32 in draft power rankings via Tankathon.
The Texans losing to the Colts when they desperately needed a win even without Nico Collins was pretty telling.
Losing back to back games to the Colts & Cowboys as the more desperate team is not great.
The Texans offense ran 54 plays from scrimmage on Sunday.
They threw the ball on 26 of 32 plays when they had 5 lineman on the field and ran the ball 19 out of 22 times with 6 lineman on the field.
There was 12 snaps where the Texans were in heavy 12 personnel (2 TEs + extra OL) with Hutchinson as the lone WR and they ran the ball on 11 of those.
This disguise fools the Texans OL here with their Interior stuck on the DTs who drop into coverage.
Giants also are able to generate a 1v1 for Abdul Carter vs Dalton Schultz with inside leverage, which obviously doesn’t go well.
Impressive from Stroud to make something happen here.
Impressive win for the Rockets tonight without Smart or Adams and winning back to back games against a solid Hawks team.
Not the cleanest day for them with Sengun, Amen, and Durant combing for 15 turnovers. But, Sengun dominated otherwise and had 7 guys in double figures.
The Rockets win 120-110 and start 4-0 for the first time since 2014-2015.
Houston was able to survive 21 turnovers today and sweep their season series with the Hawks.
Alperen Sengun dominated today.
- 29 Points
- 8 Rebounds
- 9 Assists
- 7 Stocks
- 78.3% True Shooting
Ime Udoka met Reed Sheppard halfway on the court there after that 3.
Rockets are dominating the 4th with a 20-2 run.
