🌎 NEW: LCI began to roll out California's Fifth Climate Change Assessment today! California’s climate is changing, bringing rising temperatures, more extreme wildfires, declining snowpack and growing risks to communities across the state. The newly released Fifth Climate Change Assessment brings together dozens of reports featuring the latest climate science, tribal knowledge and community perspectives to help California better understand climate risks and prepare for the future. Key findings include: 🌡️ Rising temperatures: California’s average temperatures are projected to increase by 3.5–4.3°F by 2050 compared to the 1981–2010 baseline. ❄️ Declining snowpack: Early April snowpack is projected to decrease by approximately 40% by mid-century, affecting water supplies, ecosystems and local economies. 🔥 Growing wildfire risks: Wildfire smoke exposure and associated health risks are increasing, with disproportionate impacts on vulnerable communities.
