Ranking Elaboration Part 2
I analyzed all my rankings, calculating the average of the positions of every country's players. Then I removed from the average value a coefficient based on the total count of players included in the rankings, a number that I've previously written in the last tweet (the table with coefficients is in the Part 1). I wanted to use the result of the subtraction to develop a value that reflects the current level of this country's youth movement. The smaller is that value, the better this country is in producing young prospects.
Second tier of countries:
1. Italy: 56,5 - 21 = 35,5
Italy is a particular case, with a big amount of prospect, 1 less than Germany and Serbia, but without stars and completely without a transfer system from youth sector to Senior, that now is a little bit improving. Italian's youth level is slowly becoming worse every year, especially with U17, a few powerhouses, other team with the """star""" and 11 normal players and teams full of foreigners. Italy is trying to create players with NBA size and versatility, an example is the '10 generation, but without giving them a competitive level (as of now unfindable in Italy) to consistently improve, with a big amount of 6'8 wings or 6'6/7 guards without a pro-level overall talent. Then when it's the moment to come to reach senior level, Italians are not patient with young guys, because needs results, this also because pro teams are economically weak in the majority of cases and no one wants to take a bet on a younger guy with talent. The result is that the stars rise only playing outside Italy or in the lone Serie A team that play youngsters, Trento, and usually are late bloomers like Niang brothers. I may have been critic about my country, I know, but this is the reality and we all should be critic trying to improve things, because Italy has a huge potential as a basketball country.
2. Poland: 44,9 - 9 = 35,9
Poland is improving a lot as a Senior NT in the last 5 years, and finds always the right chemical to be competitive. Youth sector hasn't had the highest level in the past 10 years, especially domestic, but with younger generation is trying to maximize physical profiles developing them in other countries like Spain, finding a couple of versatile stars or key role players. Szewczyk is a future star, and a future NBA player, while Chojnacki, Swirydowicz, Pietrzak and Borucinski future contributors of the Senior NT. I think the correct rating of Poland is a tad higher than 35,9 but things are moving in the right direction.
3. Turkey: 48,5 - 12 = 36,5
Turkey is finding itself is a moment with a terrific Senior NT, that lost very few games in the last 2 years, a system where offensive players shines and has a generation of young players that combine stars to sized players with high upside. Domestic system level is growing, not as strong as Serbia/France/Spain, but is a real one, and future stars are players that fit perfectly in the idea of the current NT: offensive talents with elite productivity and the attitude to be a focal point of the offense. I think they only lack a bit of depth to catch in to complete the field, but trend is what Turkish fans want to see.
For the other countries I write only the score, with a judgement on some aspects.

Ranking Elaboration
I analyzed all my rankings, calculating the average of the positions of every country's players. Then I removed from the average value a coefficient based on the total count of players included in the rankings, a number that I've previously written in the last tweet (the table with coefficients is down low). I wanted to use the result of the subtraction to develop a value that reflects the current level of this country's youth movement. The smaller is that value, the better this country is in producing young prospects.
1. France: 42,7 - 33 = 9,7
France is the best youth movement in all of Europe, probably the second best in the world besides USA, with a couple of 1ยฐ overall picks in the recent past. They invested a lot in coaches, trying to copy the American developmental system, maximizing physical profiles and then working on the basketball side, having at 18/19 players that can contribute also from a technical standpoint other than physical. France produces an enormous amount of prospect, having at least 3/4 players in every top 15/20, being good both at a younger and older level of competition. I think they lack a real big man prospect at the moment, talking about these generation, but is already well-covered with Wemby, Sarr and Raynaud.
2. Spain: 41,3 - 27 = 14,3
Spain has the best structures in all of Europe, the most developed youth system that leaves open a lot of space for foreigners to grow. Talking about domestic players, they do an excellent work with young age, resulting every year as one of the best U15/16 team, doing a great job taking the max from small players despite being usually a team that hasn't physical outliers. In the last years they naturalized some special prospects and started to develop some supersized ones, improving a lot their average value in the ranking, with guys like Dabone, Shurmel, Robinson and Bol in the first category and Cerdan or Niebla in the second. I think their future National Team will improve a lot the results of their current, that found in the 1997/03 gens a big hole to fill.
3. Serbia: 38,9 - 21 = 17,9
Serbia is the powerhouse with the lower average value, having a huge amount of strong prospects, not in the first tier but with the potential to be very impactful for their Senior NT. They have only a true star in Kusturica, but already have interesting players in Topic or Jovic, and have a big pool to find future starters in every position, with a solid 07 gen (Backo/Srzentic...) and a couple of good 06. Serbia features a lot of players in the 35/20 zone, made by players that have a shot to play eventually in the NBA but with solidity to contribute at the NBA level, and may be the country with the deepest bag of Tier 1/2 prospects.
4. Germany: 45,8 - 21 = 24,8
Germany is in a tier of his own, not with a world-class system like the first 3, but significantly better that all the others. A peculiarity is that Germany has the majority of their players playing in the domestic league, that isn't the most competitive one, and neither the one with the best transfer of opportunity, being similar to Italian system in that aspect. Germany is led by a very strong 2009 generation, with 4 Tier 1 prospects, and has intriguing guys in every position for every class. I think in the next 10 years they won't be the 2nd best team in the world anymore, talking about seniors, but they'll be still very competitive, considering that with 06-to-10 generation they reached a youth movement peak never seen before for Die Mannschaft.
5. Slovenia: 41,9 - 12 = 29,9
Slovenia hasn't the crazy amount of elite prospects Spain or Serbia has, especially because of a demographic reason, but still maintains an elite quality, with some stars and good role players that will be key for the future of their Senior NT, in a way bigger dimension than before the 06 generation. They are among the best in the transfer between U16 and U18, producing always competitive teams with the increase of age, but suffering a bit at U16 level, especially this year with the unexpected relegation. Like you can understand because of population, they have only 1 youth basketball powerhouse in Cedevita Olimpija, so stars are usually developed outside Slovenia (Doncic, Joksimovic). So don't worry about the number of guys, 14 top-100 in 4 generation are enough to continue as a competitive Senior NT, especially with Doncic that has 10 other years in front of him. I hope Tim Hegic will continue their development because is finally the big man they need!
6. Lithuania: 46,1 - 15 = 31,1
I think Lithuania is slowly regressing as a youth movement, being always less involved at big stages of the Europeans or without producing elite guys. I don't see a true star coming for the southest Baltic country, they may have Stombergas, that's not like Joksimovic or Dabone, but then only a couple of very competitive prospects with NBA hopes, one of them is Jonas Birzinis that's only 15. Yes, they will still compete but ceiling is lower than before, as soon as the discover of a new Lithuanian star. Also, they're producing a big amount of solid small guards, but they're poor in the big man positions, with the lone Jakstonys and Navasinkas in the >U16 teams.
7. Latvia: 43,7 - 12 = 31,7
At the moment I see Latvia as very similar to Lithuania, without substantial differences. Yes, Lithuania produces more mid-ranking guys, maybe most talented ones, but this gap is filled by Benjamin Berrouet, a star that few other countries can afford. Latvia finds itself in a situation with a competitive national team, also without Porzingis, and with a solid bunch of young and very young guys ready to compete, for example Jahovics, Vilcans, Aizpurs, Grinvalds or Martinsons. What falls short for this position is the lack of players produced by their domestic system, for example no one of the 6 mentioned guys.
Outliers: Russia with 21,8, Israel with 31,5, Czechia with 29,9 and Montenegro with 27,6.
I want to divide (not by talent) these countries in 2 different categories.
Russia has only 4 guys included in rankings, mainly because of the territorial and political detachment from Europe, with no participation at FIBA and ANGT tournaments, reducing the amount of prospects to watch so the estimate of the top-100 guys may be biased. But these guys are very talented, so the average is correct. The negative part is that this value does not match the actual status of the Senior NT, that, at least before 2022, wasn't top10 and I think still now talking about Europe alone. For Israel is similar, they haven't the best domestic youth level, war may have got the situation worse; they have some intriguing prospects in Musis or Sela or Aronov but nothing more, despite being always competitive in FIBA events mostly thanks to their playstyle. Also, traditionally Russian and Israeli prospects usually grew up in their countries before wars, in youth system that were "good but not great".
Czechia has 3 elite level prospect in Houska, Sibal and Simko, had some intriguing bigs from 08 and 09 generation that play in Spain and a couple of talented 07 prospects, but hasn't the deepest pool of guys to develop a competitive National Team. I think they'll replicate the Vesely/Satoransky situation, with stars and solid role players as a side dish. The same is with Montenegro, that has Brnovic, Fantic, Malovic or Radovic as Tier 1 prospects, but nothing relevant besides them. They haven't the most competitive domestic system, but especially for MNE is due to the overall population, finding Serbia and Spain as great shoulders to develop their prospects in a competitive environment.
They are the outlier of the model, I think all the 4 countries are similar to countries with a rating of 40.

Scandinavian Prospect Breakdown part 1
In this thread I will break down the overall growth of these four nations, considering their results in FIBA Summer Youth Competitions and the upside of their top prospects.
1. Denmark ๐ฉ๐ฐ
Top Prospect: Gustav Drejer
Overall Growth: Medium/High - Positive
Results:
U20: 16th / Div. B
U18: 12th / Div. A
U16: 10th / Div. B
Denmark Basketball movement is one of the fastest rising in Europe, producing multiple high level prospects with exceptional physical profiles for every level, especially in the younger categories, and is a country that has no fear launching young guys in the Senior NT, like Rimdal, Moller brothers, Drejer brothers and the older Uagboe. 2006 generation features a couple of supersized players, 7'3 C/F Marcus Moller and 6'9 W/G Frederik Drejer, with other solid guys that can reach the Senior NT in the next couple of years, like Ogbemudia Uagboe or Willas Moller. 2007 has produced a couple of good players, too, like Noah Norgaard, Juust Dalgaard and other role players like Theodor Kattenhoj, Frederik Stie and Viggo Rimdal. 2008 generation got an unexpected 12th place in Div. A, with only 1 win but competing hard vs Serbia, Israel and Lithuania, with sized forwards and bigs like Laurits Bomholt, Jordan Ulrich, Sebastian Kouakou or crafty guards in Artohengbe Uagboe, Oskar Skaaning or Oskar Ostoft. 2009 generation features an NBA prospect in Gustav Drejer and a couple of key players in this U18 playing underage, like Bob da Silva and Lucas Troels-Smith. U16 had 4 win but ended 17th, without his star August Moller, but relying on the talent of PG Rumle Laulund, Marcus Helweg and bigs Victor Borges and Visti Thomsen.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11) ๐ธ๐ฐ
1. Gustav Drejer, 6'9 G, '09, BAXI Manresa
2. August Moller, 6'11 F, '10, Falcon Copenaghen
3. Marcus Moller, 7'3 C/F, '06, Michigan
4. Frederik Drejer, 6'9 W, '06, Radford
5. Noah Norgaard, 6'2 PG, '07, UNC Greensboro

Top Prospect: Miikka Muurinen
Overall Growth: Medium - Positive
Results:
U20: N/A
U18: 14th / Div. B
U16: 9th / Div. B
Finland didn't have the most exciting summer in terms of results, but relies on the fact that has multiple NBA prospect with impressive size/skillset relations. '06 generation has 3 players that can potentially enter the Senior NT in the next few years, strong do-it-all wing Aaron Ekwere, who dominated U20 EYBL, scoring small guard Elmeri Abbey and big man Olavi Suutela. '07 has a true NBA prospect, still regarded as a lottery one by multiple sites, in Miikka Muurinen, despite his extra-court limits, and another complete guard/wing in Samu Adler, both with at least a presence in the Senior NT. '08 has probably the point guard of the future, in competition with Miro Little, that is Reino Saivosalmi, great scorer and floor general at 6'2, and an upside 6'10 big in Amani Haruna. 2009 class is weak in my opinion, the weakest, with PG Santeri Manninen and off guard Valtter Varila. 2010 has a spectacular couple of NBA prospects in Joseph Tala and Noah Santos, who already plays in America, 6'9 wings/forwards with athleticism and skillset, featured by a bunch of relevant role players like forward Yakuba Haruna, sized PG Paavo Kemppinen, 6'6 wing Milton Ekholm, forward Elias Ahola and 7-footer Ben van der Starre. '11 prospect Nyuol Machol completes the field as one of the guys with the highest upside in his class in all of Europe.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11)
1. Miikka Muurinen, 7'0 F, '07, Arkansas
2. Joseph Tala, 6'9 F, '10, Drive Academy FIN
3. Noah Santos, 6'9 W, '10, Expression Prep
4. Nyuol Machol, 6'7 W, '11, Vaasan Salama
5. Samu Adler, 6'6 W, '07, Butler
4. Iceland
Top Prospect: Atli Haraldsson
Overall Growth: Medium - Positive

U20: 2nd / Div. B
U18: 15th / Div. B
U16: 2th / Div. B
Iceland is developing a very good field of young prospect, maybe the most in the forward position, but with different skillsets. '06 generation pushed the 300k citizens nation to a promotion in U20A, led by 2 forwards, 6'7 Magnus Svansson and 6'8 Viktor Ludviksson, strong rebounders and finishers, and 3 guards, 6'4 Lars Bragason, 6'2 Asmundur Armannsson and 5'11 Birgir Halldorsson. '07 class features Logi Gudmunsson, already committed to Chaminade, and guards Kristofer Bjorgvinsson and Magni Thor Grissom. 2008 generation has the future starting PG in 6'3 Jakob Leifsson, with other 2 wings in Patrik Birmingham and number 4 Sturla Bodvarsson. 2009 has one of the top 3 Icelandic prospect in big wing Benoni Andrason, standing at 6'6, and shooting off guard Daniel Snorrason, 6'3. 2010 again finished 2nd gaining another promotion to Division A, led by 6'8 wing Atli Haraldsson, dirty work and finishing forward Kormakur Jack, small PG David Antonsson and 6'8 rebounder and shot blocker Jon Sigurdarson.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11)
1. Atli Haraldsson, 6'8 W, '10, Valur Reykjavik
2. Benoni Andrason, 6'7 W/F, '09, DME Academy
3. Viktor Ludviksson, 6'8 F, '06, Stjarnan

Austria had the possibilities to build a sized and competitive team for FIBA U20, with a great '06 group with 3 players that were key pieces for Senior National Team in Fynn Schott, Benjamin Schuch and Nico Zeleznik. U18 team was seen as the main candidate for relegation by the majority of experts, but led by his dynamic guards beat Latvia to secure another year in U18 Division A, with '08 group that once again will bring multiple players in the Senior NT. U16 wasn't as successful but showed a group of intriguing role players like top-scorer Markus Iancu, big man Kester Bijor and underage players Horace Akanati-Palt and Aidan Wheeler.
Benjamin Kuranovic, 2010-born forward who plays for FCN Wels is the best prospect, a number 3 that combines shooting potential, size, use of strength and overall court feel, potentially an Euroleague player with High Major upside. Played in U18 with other 3 intriguing players in Pierce Thompson, Lenny Benczak and Armin Kapic.

Czechia faced multiple years without producing notable prospects, years of transition from Vesely/Satoransky's generation, completed by great role players in Kyzlink, Hruban, Auda, Balvin and Peterka, with the lone exception in Vit Krejci, the only Czech NBA player and already 26 y/o. Until this year, Czechia was a relevant presence in U20 Division A, before falling this year in the 13/14th game against an horrific but more talented Italy. Shot creating lead guard Lukas Smazak, 2007-born, was the top scorer and undoubted leader of a team that featured some potential role players in Viktor Ivanek, Jakub Soldan, Sebastian Kremen or Vojtech Synacek, but no other stuff, without 6'9 forward Nikos Koulisianis, Furman commit. U18 was a success, with the only miss of a promotion in Division A with high possibilities of a confirm in 2027, considering the exceptional level of 2009 group. 2008 too, is a strong group especially for big men, with 6'9/6'10 centers Ondrej Pospichal and Krystof Davidek, high potential Liga U22 forward Samuel Nohel and shooting specialist Aleksandr Krob. 2009 is the best group, this year featuring 6'10 forward Matej Buben, 6'7 wing Jakub Chaloupka and 6'8 PG Marek Houska, potentially an NBA player in my opinion. Missing the 2 Columbus HS 7-footers in 7'2 F/C Martin Sibal and 7'1 C/F Martin Simko, a couple of high level bigs that few other team had in the past (i remember only Ivisic-s' Croatia). U16 was successful too, playing in a competitive group and destroying Italy 2 times: Matej Snobl, 2011-born PG was exceptional playing underage, Jan Kopecky was the leader, with other run n'gun guard/wings in Kudela, Kubjat, Ptacek, Dalecky and Cech. I think in 7/8 years with this group of guys, Czechia will compete again for Top 8 in Senior Eurobasket and becoming a steady presence at FIBA World Cup

Central Europe Prospect Breakdown part 1
In this thread I will break down the overall growth of these four nations, considering their results in FIBA Summer Youth Competitions and the upside of their top prospects.
1. Austria ๐ฆ๐น
Top Prospect: Benjamin Kuranovic
Overall Growth Rate: Small/Medium - Positive
Results:
U20: N/A
U18: 13th / Div. A
U16: 12th / Div. B
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11) ๐ฆ๐น
1. Benjamin Kuranovic, '10, FCN Wels
2. Benjamin Schuch, '06, New Mexico

3. Hungary ๐ญ๐บ
Top Prospect: Bence Pecsi
Overall Growth: Little decline - Negative
Results:
U20: 8th / Div. B
U18: 5th / Div. B
U16: 15th / Div. B
Hungary's level is declining a bit, comparing to previous years, in a situation when almost every NT has a standout prospect, the Magyars have only a bunch of good players but not a future star like Adam Hanga or Zoltan Perl. 2007 generation is one of the strongest groups, 6th last year in U18 and as underage leaders 8th this year in U20, with guys like Zalan Flasar, Peter Rosta, Gabor Lukacsi, Csongor Gal and Mark Mezofi. U18, too, did a very good tournament, finishing 5th with only a loss to stronger Belgium. Squad wasn't the most talented, but able to play and defend effectively together, led by 6'8 F Miklos Asztalos with some interesting 09s in Mark Szafko, Vince Gaspar and Zeteny Kurfis. Despite bad results, U16 roster featured 2 of the best 4 prospects for Hungarian basketball right now, 6'9 F Bence Pecsi and 6'5 G ('11) Zeteny Bajor, with also other productive guards in Mate Szollosi, Nandor Cseczei and '11-born Mark Szabo Haklits, a dominator in Italian U15 Ecc.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11) ๐ญ๐บ
1. Bence Pecsi, 6'9 F, '10, Honved
2. Peter Rosta, 6'10 F, '07, Blair Academy
3. Zalan Flasar, 6'9 F/C, '07, Rice
4. Zeteny Bajor, 6'5 G, '11, Vasas Akademia
5. Zeteny Kurfis, 6'8 C/F, '09, Valencia
4. Slovakia ๐ธ๐ฐ
Top Prospect: Aike Dzacar
Overall Growth: Small/Medium - Positive
Results:
U20: 19th / Div. B
U18: 15th / Div. A
U16: 10th / Div. B
Slovakia has never been a basketball country, but in the recent years some interesting prospects came out, like 2004-born Timotej Malovec, already leader of Senior NT and 2005-born and potential NBA player Sebastian Rancik. 2006 group was a hole, with only a few notable wings in Martin Chlupis and Martin Pospisil. 2007 isn't a deep class, but produced 2 of the bigs of the future of Slovakian NT in Maros Golian and Thomas Stanko, big guard Martin Minarovjech, with also a couple of role players in Mojmir Deen and Karlis Azacis. 2008 is the best generation, that went relegated in FIBA U18 but had different notable prospects in Bruno Randuska, Lukas Kubala and wings like Matus Gregor, Samuel Kokavec and Adam Pukancik. 2009 group is a weaker one, with the lone Matus Rybar, while 2010 features the athletic power of Aike Dzacar, with other 2 guards in Patrik Paska and PG Erik Licko, and power forward ('11-born) Alex Ksinan.
Top 5 Prospects ('06/'11) ๐ธ๐ฐ
1. Aike Dzacar, 6'5 G, '10, Baylor School
2. Bruno Randuska, 6'5 CG, '08, Inter Bratislava
3. Maros Golian, 6'10 C, '07, Inter Bratislava
4. Martin Minarovjech, 6'9 G, '07, Lamar
5. Lukas Kubala, 6'9 F, '08, Dubai Basketball
I think height is with shoes, but there are crazy numbers, Yahya Basaran is 7'2 like Mohamed Samba and Martin Simko, Martin Sibal is 7'3, Darius Karutasu is 6'10.5, Jokubas Kukta 6'6, Lapo Santini 6'10.5, Angolan Jose Dias is 7'2, Marek Houska โ 6'9, Miguel Sousa โ 7'0
