Cutter this, changeup that. I think the path for Payton Tolle taking his next step might be something that nobody is talking about
For @OverTheMonster ⬇️
How can Patyon Tolle hit his ceiling? Here's
@Jake3Roy on the importance of throwing strikes and one tweak Tolle can make to reach his potential.

What if you needed losses in there to get to 7 games?
1978 Game 163 (this is cheating, Bucky Dent)
2013 ALCS (bullpen cop)
2018 World Series (18 innings)
2021 ALCS (Laz Diaz)
1986 ALCS (Dave Henderson)
1975 World Series (Carlton Fisk)
2004 ALCS W (Comeback Complete)
We're doing a fun exercise @OverTheMonster today where we try and create the best Red Sox 7-Game postseason series using the franchise history. But there's two limitations:
1) Each selection within your best 7-Game series must correspond to the actual game it was during the series played. (So you can’t use a Game 5 and place it at Game 1 or Game 7 or whatever.)
2) You can only use one game per series, so you have to dip into seven different series to create the full list. (This means you’re going to have to make some hard decisions when it comes to the 2004 ALCS.)
Here's my list:
Game 1: 2004 World Series
Game 2: 2013 ALCS
Game 3: 2003 ALDS
Game 4: 2004 ALCS
Game 5: 2008 ALCS
Game 6: 1975 World Series
Game 7: 2007 ALCS (see the title of the article below)
If anybody would like to include their submissions here (will check both replies and quote tweets), I'll include them in the tally.
By my count, winning teams are out-homering losing teams 40-16 in this postseason.
The team that hits more home runs in a game is 19-4 (There were 7 games in which teams had equal home run totals)

Can you put together the ultimate 7-game series for the Red Sox? @MattGross87 gave it a shot and learned something interesting: The Red Sox haven't really played a great Game 7 in their entire history.

Baseball is supposed to be fun. Payton Tolle reminds us of that

Ben is 8-10 since the start of the postseason. If you were betting $10 on each pick, you'd be up about $12.30. I'd hardly call that HOT

I had a standing room ticket on the RF roof deck for this game. By the end of the game we had moved to one of the tables at the front of the section, but I was pacing back and forth in the aisle because I couldn’t sit down.
Good times
I can’t stand these takes. I understand the utility of expected stats, but the guy did not hit the ball well enough to be a home run in the stadium where the game was being played.
How is that the Rays being bailed out?
I have to imagine the IVB gains on fastballs at the Trop are at least part of why the Rays went and got Peralta
Both Matt Blake and Aaron Boone said they are starting Gerrit Cole over Carlos Rodón because they "like" Cole at Tropicana Field.
What does that mean? It turns out there's a hidden scientific reason that goes much deeper than the "easy" decision.
