🚨FRIDAY NEWS DUMP🚨
Today is my last day with The @KSLSportsZone. After 14 years, I am stepping away to pursue other opportunities. The decision was entirely mine. I feel a need to change some things in my life & this one of them.
I will be continuing my work with @LockedOnCougars & the @LockedOnNetwork for those wondering.
It would take too long to explain what The Zone & sports radio/media has meant to me & its impact on my life. I’ve been truly blessed to have had the chance to live a dream come true for many years now.
I owe many thanks & a debt of gratitude to individuals like @DavidDJJames, @PKKinahan, @DLocke09, @ScottyGZone, @LloydColezone, @NateDowdle, @JakeScottZone, @BensHoops, @tlacomb, @GBSHansO, & @gregwrubell, along with a host of others who helped me break into the field & shepherded me from being a completely green intern 16 years ago into the grizzled media veteran I am today.
I also thank all of you who have consumed any of the projects/podcasts/shows I have been part of. There’s more to come, so stay tuned.
I’ll still pop up on The Zone from time-to-time, but I am eager to stretch my wings & work on some projects I’ve long-had sitting on the back burner.
If you’re an individual or a business who’d like to work with me, I’m all ears & happy to chat. Reach out to me here, via DM/email etc.
Thanks again to all of you for your continued support & the work doesn’t stop. We roll on!

Immediate reaction to the Jaren Jackson Jr. 8 week injury report:
- Jazz play-in hopes take a major step backward.
- This frees up touches for Ace Bailey and Darryn Peterson, which could accelerate growth.
- This allows Ace to stay in the starting lineup when Nurkić returns.

Utah Jazz star Jaren Jackson Jr. has sustained a torn MCL in his right knee and will be sidelined for 6-to-8 weeks, sources tell me and @BannedMacMahon. Jackson will not require surgery.

Mississippi State confirms Kamario Taylor is out for the year. Notable from Taylor: "I love this team and I love Mississippi State." He compliments coach Jeff Lebby and the staff for their handing of everything.

As social media wonders about his whereabouts, I talked to @WorldWideWob about why he walked away from NBA Twitter and how he has mostly retired at 39 years old

I don't think people fully appreciate the historical level of ineptitude we're about to witness in Logan on Saturday.
Utah State currently ranks dead last nationally in scoring offense, averaging just 14.9 points per game. Colorado State ranks dead last in scoring defense, allowing 44.0 points per game.
Naturally, I was curious how often we've seen something like this happen.
Looking back over the last 30 seasons, I found three matchups between teams that finished the year with the nation's worst scoring offense and worst scoring defense.
2004: Washington (worst offense) beat San José State (worst defense), 21–6.
2007: FIU (worst offense) beat North Texas (worst defense), 38–19.
2019: UMass (worst defense) beat Akron (worst offense), 37–29.
So, in these three games, the nation's worst offense actually went 2–1 against the nation's worst defense.
This should be a fascinating display of terrible football.
Jayare is a good man. Always a friendly face who volunteered around BYU athletics. If you’re able to help him out, please consider doing so.
Cougar Nation, this is Jayare Roberts. If you’ve attended BYU athletic events over the last 20 years, you’ve probably seen him. He has volunteered as a host for just about every sport. During my time with @byusoccer_w, he was nothing but kind and supportive. He recently had to stop volunteering because of a cancer diagnosis. I’ve seen you guys do some amazing things for people in need. Jayare could really use some support right now. Anything you can donate helps! Spread the word! gofund.me/916da2740

If RG3 becomes the next head coach at Baylor I’ll jump into the bear exhibit at the zoo #LANK

Oregon coach Dan Lanning announces that QB Dante Moore is expected to miss the rest of the season. Moore has been out since sustaining a concussion Sept. 26 at USC.
Just catching up on the Jazz game & I sincerely hope that’s a jammed wrist or something relatively minor of Lauri Markkanen. #TakeNote
