I went to the local bank one of my businesses has used for years. Our only local account is with them. Told them we needed a second account. Thought it would be an easy 1, 2. They said I need to bring in every single piece of document I’d brought in to open to first account, again. If you’ve ever opened a company (not sole trader) account locally you know the list is long. Meanwhile I can log into Mercury and spin up a second, third, fourth account on the fly. Compliance requirements is not the reason some of these banks make things that could be easy so difficult. This particular bank makes a massive profit every year too so it’s not a resource problem either. It’s a lack of commitment to innovation because many of them knew it wasn’t necessary to do more than the absolute minimum for customers (innovation-wise) because of the realties of the local landscape. The world is changing though. IYKYK.

We just crossed the $1M mark. Here's to better money movement and financial infrastructure for our people 🥂 This is only the beginning. Lots more in the pipeline. Thank you, as always 🙏🏽

It's so refreshing to read LinkedIn posts that don't have that 'AI cadence'...things weh sound like suppen weh ah come straight outta smaddy brain. Give me the awkward long-winding sentence or the occasional subject-verb disagreement over that cookie-cutter-sounding stuff any day.

Up to this point I avoided talking about the underlying technology online because who cares about that…people just waan know say di ting can do weh dem need di ting fi do…but the technology was carefully chosen for several reasons.
