yes, the times I’ve been to Oxford street with any of my children (two of which currently toddlers) I have always thought to myself: thank god for this huge main road next to this overcrowded pavement!
A healthy, able bodied young man who isn't carrying heavy shopping or a child writes... 🙄

Fortescue to Chowns on Greens4Palestine: "This group obviously has a big influence over your partys direction... do you think they should be kicked out of the party?" Can you imagine a journalist asking, should Labour Friends of Israel be kicked out of Labour? Of course you cant

.@trussliz is absolutely deluded. How she ever became Prime Minister is ridiculous. She takes no responsibility for her disastrous, brief period. “Not me, Guv, look over there!” Ridiculous.

Three paragraphs when two words would have done. "Revolving door."
Mr Polanski, I know you have a reputation for being scrupulous about checking your facts, but you’ve missed an important detail. My contract requires me to remain on leave from the Lords, surrender my parliamentary pass and forgo all access and voting rights for the duration of my employment at Palantir. I do not, therefore, take any whip. I fear this makes me rather less useful to the whips’ office than you imply.

Spotted leaving No 11 tonight: Paul Mason. Said he was there to help an old friend. John Healey has been fine-tuning his budget speech all weekend.

This is another car-crash interview from Robert Jenrick. The reason he’s refusing to say that calling Kemi Badenoch a “Nigerian scammer” is racist is because he doesn’t want to upset Reform’s racist voters.
‘Is calling Kemi Badenoch a “Nigerian scammer” racist, yes or no?’ ‘…I’m not on your show to talk about what a journalist has tweeted.’ Reform's Robert Jenrick refuses to engage with @Lewis_Goodall's question about Raheem Kassam's comments on the Tory leader.

Yes, because having a lead in the polls is all that matters. Just ask Theresa May…
Two pollsters this weekend giving Labour an 8pt lead - at what point does an election become too tempting?

This is really absolutely fucking staggering 🤯
The reality of the "independent" review telling every school in England to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism: its author, Sir David Bell, was being paid by a government agency while he wrote it, and a pro-Israel charity has listed him on its council for ten years. The government told the public he was "independent of Government" and had "no conflict of interest". Neither is true. What we found: - Bell was paid £20,000 a year as vice-chair of Skills England, a government agency, in a seat the Department for Education gave him. He held it until August, through most of the review. - The Academic Study Group on Israel and the Middle East has listed him on its council since at least 2016. Its website says its one firm policy is opposing boycotts of Israel. It gives talks on Israel in schools, which is exactly what his review was asked to judge. - In 2005, as chief inspector of schools, he singled out Muslim schools as a challenge to "our coherence as a nation". The chairman of the Association of Muslim Schools called it Islamophobia, and his own inspectors said he had presented a personal view as inspection evidence. Then we followed the money: - The department's £1.3 million antisemitism training contract had one bidder, according to the tender record. It went to Palace Yard, a company set up in 2022 by the former Labour MP Natascha Engel. - That contract says all its training must use the IHRA definition "as a foundation". It was signed eight months before Bell was appointed. His review then recommended IHRA. - Two of the people who advised Bell, from Partnerships for Jewish Schools and the Antisemitism Policy Trust, now sit on the group putting his recommendations into practice. - The Union of Jewish Students, also on that group, holds a contract worth almost £1 million to train universities. Its own policies include "UJS to advocate for Israel within UK Policy and International Law". - UK Lawyers for Israel* (UKLFI) and the Campaign Against Antisemitism* (CAA) both say the review adopted their recommendations. *For context, UKLFI once justified the starvation of Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli occupation as "good for obesity". Both these groups have staunchly defended Israel throughout its perpetration of a genocide in Gaza, and regularly conflate Jewish people with the apartheid state. This matters because the review decides how every school treats what pupils and teachers say about Israel, and the IHRA definition it recommends treats some criticism of Israel as antisemitic. A review with that power should come from someone with no pay from government and no tie to a pro-Israel charity. Bell had both. The government put one in a footnote and left the other out. We mapped every link, each with its source, explaining just how far this review is from "independent": newscord.org/editorials/davi…

Funny how The Mail On Sunday don’t quote my official response but only from my liable letter. My official statement: Zionism will join apartheid and Jim Crow in the ugly dustbin of history, and no amount of crocodile tears will change that.

Israel's defenders largely have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. When challenged about the actual details, even they can't defend the glaring, screaming racism.
Mike Tapp: 'Zionism isn't ethnic cleansing!' Shehab Khan: 'So why can a Jewish guy in London get Israeli citizenship but a displaced Palestinian can't?' Mike Tapp: '...I didn't know that. That doesn't sound equal to me.' The absolute intellectual collapse. He spent whole time defending the ideology, only to admit he doesn't know how it actually works on the ground
