NEW: A Russian biker with links to Moscow’s sabotage chief can be revealed as the suspected mastermind of a bomb plot in the heart of Europe. A joint Telegraph and Welt am Sonntag investigation reveals that Oleg Levushkin - a Russian family man with a passion for motorbikes - is believed to have planned a failed attempt to plant explosives at Germany’s Leipzig-Halle airport. German investigators suspect that Mr Levushkin planned the attack before ordering Andrei Karshakou, a Belarusian proxy agent named today for the first time, to carry out his plans in August. Classified intelligence documents from Germany, Lithuania and Poland, as well as interviews with senior Western intelligence officials, detail the pair’s alleged planning of the attack. The evidence points to disturbing links between the Leipzig attack and a wider network of sabotage plots across Europe, all allegedly orchestrated by a hard-line unit in the GRU.
