Bury North is my family’s home town I want for your family everything I want for mine Across our town we play by the rules to make ends meet We know its tough We know many more have it even tougher Our country is going backwards After 14 years of this Tory government, what works? What’s got better? Families are struggling with the cost of living crisis Ordinary working people, hammered with the highest taxes in 80 years Public Services have become Public Struggles The NHS is in crisis, waiting times are up, getting a GP appointment gets harder People are hard up, fed up but we mustn’t give up My faith in our town remains We need an MP that unites One that champions you and our town More money in your pocket Public services back on their feet, fit for the future Our schools need investment, and a plan for every child Children with special educational needs need specialism and real educational care Bury businesses need backing not burdening, whether they’re start up or scale-up The green jobs of the future must come to Bury first We must take back our streets from anti-social behaviour and crime Labour has changed and is ready to change Britain To make everyday life better for everyone To raise the floor on which we all stand You know I am on your side Together, we: Saved the walk-in centre; Funded our Hospice; Got the country behind saving Bury FC I’ve secured life-saving drugs for Bury families on the NHS; Championed local jobs; And I’m still fighting the inequalities in education Let’s move forward after these damaging Tory years Bury and Britain needs change, not more of the same It’s a clear choice between a changed Labour Party and the same old Tories We can build a better future It’s time for a fresh start Bury and Britain needs change I am change Bury North can trust And I am determined to deliver it, so that everyone of us can thrive. #ChangeYouCanTrust

51% of Jewish teachers - many of them NEU members - experienced antisemitism in school in the past year. Fixing this starts with defining the problem. IHRA spotlights the insidious and often subtle nature of antisemitism. It doesn't stifle criticism of the government of Israel.

No one should have to risk their health or, in the worst cases, their lives at the hands of cosmetic cowboys. People deserve proper care not to be exploited as a way to make quick money. Our new rules will ensure high-risk procedures are only carried out by properly trained professionals, protect under-18s and hold rogue providers to account.

In yesterday's debate on support for unpaid carers, it was pleasing to hear @JamesFrith recognise both the impact of caring on carers, as well as the absolute need for breaks. Through our 'Protest from Home', carers of all ages made it clear that breaks are not a 'nice-to-have', they are an absolute necessity. We will continue to push the Government to ensure that breaks and respite are available for carers, no matter where they live. Listen here, 14:58:23 to 14:58:58 - Parliamentlive.tv - Westminster Hall

I don't accept there is a choice between being tough on the criminals that blight our communities and offering support to help turn lives around. Firm, but fair. That is our approach. It's why we are recruiting more police officers. It's why we are building more prison places. But it's also why we are investing in youth centres, our probation service and an array of rehabilitative programmes. The best way to keep communities safe is by cutting reoffending. That is at the heart of our law and order agenda. Enjoyed @bbcquestiontime last night in Durham.

Three years on from the October 7 attacks on Israel, we remember those who were senselessly killed by Hamas terrorists. The impact of the attacks has been felt not just in Israel, but in Jewish communities across the world who still bear the burden of the tragic events that day. In the years since, we have seen a disturbing rise in antisemitic behaviour in the UK. A year ago we witnessed a horrifying terrorist attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester, with further attacks against Jewish people and institutions since. I want Britain’s Jewish community to hear this from me directly. We stand with you. Abuse and violence against you, in any form, will not be tolerated. Not on our streets, not online, not in our schools or universities. That’s why we are funding protection for synagogues, schools and community buildings, and why we will come down hard on antisemitism wherever it is found - in classrooms, on campuses and in neighbourhoods. At home, we are committed to protecting our citizens from vile hatred. Abroad, we continue to work towards a two-state solution, with Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace and security. An attack on Jewish people in Britain is an attack on all of us. Antisemitism has no place in this country, and we will do everything we can to stamp it out.

BREAKING: Bridget Phillipson responds on behalf of Labour to the racist and antisemitic motion today. It’s strong and she doesn’t mince her words to be fair. Bridget Phillipson MP, Chair of the Labour Party, and Minister for Women and Equalities, responds to the Green Party’s vote on Zionism at the Green Party Conference, said:   “It is shameful to vote against a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine and to condemn the vast majority of British Jews and Jews around the world as racist for supporting Israel’s right to exist. It is fundamentally wrong and the leadership of the Green Party must make clear that this will not be their position moving forwards.   “The Labour Party has always been clear that criticism of the policies of the Israeli Government is not antisemitic, and the Labour government has condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank. But today’s vote at the Green Party Conference crosses a line and should be condemned across the political spectrum.   “This vote underlines how important it was that we changed the Labour Party from top to bottom and ripped out the scourge of antisemitism from within the party.    "The Labour Party and the Labour Government will continue working every day to ensure our Jewish communities are safe, feel safe and have their rights upheld, as well as making sure we rid our society of antisemitism once and for all.”

It’s estimated that one in five women in the UK will experience a miscarriage in their lifetime. But if you lose a pregnancy before 24 weeks, there is currently no legal right to bereavement leave. I don’t think that’s right. Losing a pregnancy can be devastating. You and your partner shouldn’t have to worry about going straight back to work. So we’re changing the law. From April, women and their partners will be entitled to two weeks off after any pregnancy loss. And we’re making wider changes, with new rights to time off when you lose someone you love. When you’re grieving, you deserve the time and space to do that.
