Billionaires in California are spending $333 million to wage a war. Against what? Homelessness? No. Cancer? No. Child poverty? No. They’re waging war against a 5% billionaire wealth tax. They’d rather poor kids with cancer die than pay a little more in taxes. That is obscene.

Energy companies and oil companies are making insane profits and yet we will swallow another 27% increase in our energy bills and never ending increases at the pumps to pay for US imperialism because too many Brits buy the bullshit and bellyache about benefits and small boats.

I am looking forward to returning to the continent where I’ve experienced so many moments of my life. May this journey be an occasion for us to open our hearts to one another, strengthen our communion as brothers and sisters, and renew our commitment to proclaiming the Gospel with joy.  #Uruguay #Argentina #Peru

The first Zionist Congress was planned for Munich in 1897. Local Jewish leaders, Orthodox and Reform, opposed it, so it moved to Basel. Jews were saying "Judaism is not Zionism" before the movement held its first meeting.
