Hi, I'm Janis 👋
After 12 years of coding 👨💻 as an employee, I tried starting my mobile app development agency 🚀 JanisCode.com - and failed.
So I switched to contracting.
The agency dream is paused, not gone.
Sharing my messy journey from employee to founder.
Contracting: Predictable cashflow and control.
Agency: Possibly more revenue, but more responsibility
If your goal is building your own products, which path really leaves more time and energy?
Contracting reality...
Juggling multiple clients is basically managing promises.
Have you found a good way to plan capacity without overbooking yourself?
I had the X blue check for about a year and recently unsubscribed.
My take:
If you're using X to grow an audience - you probably need it.
If it's just for self-expression - not really.
What are your thoughts?
The hardest part of contracting isn't coding. It's keeping mental space for every project.
How do you manage multiple client projects?
When do you plan your week?
I'm starting to think Friday is a good day to plan the next one, so Monday starts with actual work.
How about you?
Is it easy to jump from web to mobile development?
What's your experience?
I've done it.
Not a straightforward road - but manageable.
Motivation lasts a day.
Systems last months.
I'm trying to build a daily system right now - how to structure my day so the important work actually gets done.
If you have a lot of situations (some call them problems), start by resolving one.
Every day one...
They will end at some point!
Sometimes the right song works better than any productivity hack.
Mine lately: Iniko - Jericho
What's your "get back to work" song?
