Japan’s draft resolution the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects, submitted jointly with Colombia and South Africa, was adopted by the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) The resolution calls upon all States to undertake concrete measures within the international community to implement the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects (PoA).

Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII attended the reception commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Foreign Press Center Japan (FPCJ), representing MOFA. Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT) participating states and EU released a joint statement on sanctions against North Korea, noting EU, Australia, and the United States implemented sanctions building on detailed reporting by MSMT and reaffirming commitment by MSMT participating states and EU to complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of North Korea.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the victims of the train collision in the Province of Toledo, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain and express my sympathy to their families. I also pray for the swift recovery of those who were injured.
Furthermore, the Government of Spain has informed us that two Japanese nationals were included on the train's passenger list. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established response headquarters and is currently working to confirm their safety. The Government of Japan will continue to do its utmost to ensure the protection of its nationals, in cooperation with the Spanish authorities.

Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance OKUBO held the first meeting of the Japan-NCAG Working Group on the Rebuilding of Gaza online with Dr. Shaath, Chief Commissioner of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG). Ambassador OKUBO reiterated the importance of the steady implementation of the “Comprehensive Plan” toward the rebuilding of Gaza. He also stated that Japan would continue to play an active role, in coordination with relevant countries and organizations, including in translating the “Gaza Recovery Program” into concrete action.
