Still so damn sad. Good on ESPN for sharing what a tremendous dude, and yes what a bad ass Chris was.
Remembering the late Chris Spatola ❤️
During halftime of @ArmyWP_MBB-@DukeMBB, Dave O’Brien & @JayBilas shared a heartfelt tribute to a beloved member of the ESPN family & college basketball community
I’m all for player safety, but every time I see a Guardian Cap, an image of this guy pops in my head.
Manning the candy bucket tonight. It’s a fascinating case study watching the kids that politely reach in and take one piece vs the kids that dive in with both hands.
So Florida is just going to keep making dumb plays and handing UGA great field position? Is this how today is going to go?
The Rays need to have someone accidentally spill about a gallon of water on the front of that mound.
The best part about voting early is taking satisfaction that the thousands of dollars being paid for all those ads between now and Tuesday are totally wasted on me.
Our @MLBNetworkRadio crew is doing work down on the field. Best pregame show in the biz. I learn something every time I listen.
No doubt that some zebras/crews are better than others, but (especially on Sunday) they're calling the game the way the league wants it to be called. The league sets the standard & the stripes try to manage it in real time. The thing is, more often than not, they're correct.
I don’t post this stuff often. But at both the NFL and college level, something has to be done about the over-officiating we’re seeing these days.
I’m not emotional. Neither my college nor NFL team played this weekend. Didn’t care who won any of these games. But watching this Packers-Lions game - after watching football all weekend - it’s never been more clear.
I think we’d all way rather they miss something that happened than call something that didn’t.
Instead, officials are calling things that looked like they MIGHT have happened, not things that definitely DID happen. They are trigger happy. If it looks like it might have been (pick your infraction), that flag flies. Then often we see it DIDN’T happen.
Football officiating is really hard. I get it. Officials are trying to get it right. But someone HAS to tell these dudes don’t throw unless you know. It’s killing the flow of games. And the cause of what seems to be more missed calls than ever.
Any way, for what it’s worth.
Between the UCF/BYU game and now a PAT safety in the Bucs game, this weekend has been a football officiating geek’s wet dream. 😂
The other factor on the helmet coming off in the BYU/UCF game. If there was time left for another play, the kicker would’ve had to sit out the play since his helmet came off. They would’ve needed to use a backup kicker.
