In government, it’s always easier to stop something or say no. Blocking a proposal does not make a person powerful or influential. Creating something is much harder. Real power comes in helping others get to “yes.”

There's a ballot measuring circulating being called "Our Neighborhood Voices," led by some of the state's biggest nimbys, endorsed by SF's Board of Supervisors President, that would overturn and ban nearly all state housing laws aimed at building more housing and confronting our housing crisis. Its stated goal is to implement pure local control, allowing cities and counties to reject all multi family housing and affordable housing. This is the approach that has created the housing and homelessness crisis we are facing to begin with, leading California to have the most homelessness and the highest rents. It would lead to an even worse housing crisis, empowering nimbys to reject and ban apartment buildings and multi family housing from their cities entirely. It's a dangerous attack on renters and working families, it is backwards and wrong, it should be rejected entirely, and its backers called out and condemned.

I didn’t realize @RoKhanna was so anti gun safety, access to women’s reproductive care and freedom to love, learn and be your true self. Learn something new every day @VanityFair!

I have very strong and well-informed opinions on this question.
The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings face off in the NBA playoffs for the first time. But which team’s home city is the winner off the court? trib.al/UeIphlU

It pains me to see Palo Alto's mayor indulging in anti-housing vitriol because it's terribly irresponsible - but also because it's my hometown. Hopefully her antics end at political grandstanding & P.A. will continue working with HCD to get compliant. paloaltoonline.com/news/2023…
