And a follow-up: Don’t fall for the relentless get-rich-through-investing propaganda, however desperate you feel. What they sell as “democratising finance” can be little more than another way of extracting what little wealth you have. The house doesn’t need you to win. It needs you to play. 😉
My advice after 30+ years in corporate life: If you’re a poor, working-class white London lad, academically in the top 10% with only school textbooks — no private tutors or leg-ups — and university isn’t an option because you need to earn at 16, think twice about corporate careers. They’ll exploit your talent while the favoured crowd gets the opportunities. The barrow-boy ceiling is real. Meritocracy? That’s for the movies. 😉

Trump boosted stocks through tax cuts, deregulation and stimulus. Abe’s Japan went further with central-bank stock purchases. Xi’s China used state buying and trading restrictions. Different methods, same broad goal: supporting markets. But rising stocks ≠ a stronger economy.
