Hi all! I’ve been seeing lots of people posting about feeling down from not getting chosen for the Wild Card club. First of all, I want to say I’m really sorry. We’ve all been there. Rejection hurts, the first time and the hundredth time. That moment of waiting, hoping, and ultimately getting passed over. Heck, I got passed over again too. It stings to feel overlooked, to wonder if your hard work went unseen, and to ask yourself, “What did I miss?” “Am I good enough?” “Why does making a certain kind of content exclude me regardless of my talent, who I am, the things I've done?” Etc. It is completely normal to feel disappointed. Being told no sucks. There have been plenty of times in my career in streaming, voice acting and now singing that I’ve been told no. But I am here to tell you today: not being invited to be apart of something doesn't dictate your future. History is filled with incredible stories of people who didn't get picked. People who were told "not yet," or "not right now," or simply nothing at all. In that rejection, however, you realize something special. If they won't give you a seat at their table, you can just start your own. You have potential. You have courage to do what you did by auditioning. You put yourself out there to be vulnerable, to be judged. That takes immense strength. Your creativity, your drive, and your unique spark cannot be measured by a single audition or a single selection process. There will never be another you. Not getting picked isn't the end of your story. The greatest success stories come from those who faced hardship and rejection but kept honing their craft, kept trying time and time again until one day, the world finally saw them for the unique wonder they are. Disappointment can be a valid visitor but don’t let it move in and don’t let bitterness weigh down your vision. Channel that into something motivating and never let your ambition die. You are capable of great things! Start your own project. Write a book. Sing your song. Some of the most profound breakthroughs first happen when no one is watching. Patrick Stewart didn't become Captain Picard until he was 47. Morgan Freeman didn't land his first huge role until he was 50! You have time. Keep trying and never give up. Debra Wilson once told me, “It’s okay no one is looking for you now, because you’re gonna do something that’s gonna make’em look. Make them look so hard they can’t ignore you.” So that’s what I’ll do. That’s what I’ll encourage you all to do. Not getting picked isn't the end of your story. In fact, I'd say it's most likely the beginning! The first step in a grand journey where one day, we'll all know your name. Your greatest work is still ahead of you.
