PROJECT 8 + PROJECT 18 | TURNOUT WATCH
Oct. 27, 2026 Β· 7 days to Election Day
One week left. Here's everything you need to know this morning, as reported π

Last night the 9th Circuit dismissed the Justice Department's emergency appeal over mail ballots from 20,000+ California voters the federal government flagged as likely noncitizens.
β’ The court ruled it lacked jurisdiction because the trial court hadn't ruled first. It did not rule on the noncitizen claims.
β’ Judge Bumatay dissented.
β’ California keeps counting those ballots for now. The fight goes back to the trial court, with a hearing TODAY.
β’ On Friday, at least 18 California counties got DOJ letters demanding those ballots be set aside and verified.

β’ Early voting passed 30 MILLION: 30,807,070 ballots cast, as reported by NBC's tracker (5:30 PM ET Monday).
β’ 15.1M by mail, 15.7M in person.
β’ By party registration: Dem 47% / GOP 35% / Other 18%. That's registration, not votes, and the gap is why every Republican ballot this week matters.

β’ Red states are in play: Iowa (Hinson vs. Turek), Texas (Paxton vs. Talarico) and Kansas (Marshall vs. Hamilton). Nothing is safe.
β’ Michigan: Rogers vs. El-Sayed is coming down to the wire. VP Vance is in Michigan today.
β’ Mississippi: President Trump rallied in Corinth last night for Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith and called Scott Colom "a fake, a shameless phony who pretends to be a moderate."
β’ Kansas and Montana: Vance campaigned Monday for Sen. Roger Marshall and House hopeful Aaron Flint.
π π£π₯π’ππππ§ ππ΄ | ππ’π¨π¦π
β’ Cook Political Report (Oct. 23): Dem 220 Β· GOP 198 Β· 17 TOSS UPS.
β’ The House majority runs through those 17 seats, and they're decided by who shows up.

1οΈβ£ Vote early if your state allows it. Don't wait for Nov. 3.
2οΈβ£ Mail ballot? Return it TODAY and track it.
3οΈβ£ Text 5 Republicans and ask, "Have you voted yet?"
4οΈβ£ Drive someone to the polls.
5οΈβ£ Repost this. Every share reaches a voter.
Seven days. Forget the polls. It all comes down to turnout. πΊπΈ

These local businesses, Abdul? They seem to be growing by leaps and bounds.
Local context for Dearborn
Dearborn has a well-documented concentration of Arab-American and Middle Eastern immigrant entrepreneurship. Commercial areas along Michigan Avenue and Warren Avenue feature many restaurants, Yemeni coffee shops, bakeries, retail stores, and service businesses owned by Lebanese, Yemeni, Iraqi, and other foreign-born or first-generation owners. Local reports describe a rise in Yemeni-owned cafes, restaurants, and retail, and Arab-owned businesses are a longstanding feature of the local economy. Organizations such as the American Arab Chamber of Commerce and Tejara support immigrant and minority entrepreneurs in the area.
In short, while a precise city-level number does not exist in public data, foreign-born ownership is disproportionately high relative to the population shareβconsistent with metro and national patterns, and amplified by Dearbornβs large immigrant and Arab-American community. Exact figures would require custom Census tabulations or local surveys that are not currently published.

Today we hear from Erika.
In her own words: "My children's freedom and safety are nonnegotiable. I'm voting Republican for them, and I'll keep fighting for their future every election after this. First, we show up. Then, we win."
Every day until November 3, we're sharing the voices of the people who will decide this election.
If you're interested in sharing why this election is important to you and would like to tell that in a video, drop it in my DM. π©
