It has been nearly three months, and we still do not have answers for Nolan Wells’ death. I am standing with all those calling for an independent, transparent, and continued investigation. We will not rest until Nolan’s family gets answers.

One of California’s largest Medi-Cal insurers is taking away critical care for thousands of Californians receiving assisted living benefits. I’m doing all I can to stop it. This decision will be devastating for far too many Golden State communities and needs to be reversed immediately.

***This should be a major story***
On September 22, 2026, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced a massive meat recall involving approximately 167,639 pounds of raw beef, pork, and goat products. The recall was triggered because the meat was produced without the benefit of federal inspection and falsely labeled with a fake USDA mark of inspection. Cattle ranchers are furious over President Donald Trump’s executive action temporarily waiving tariffs on up to 300,000 metric tons (roughly 660 million pounds) of imported foreign ground beef trimmings. The cattle market operates similarly to the stock market. The moment the tariff-free import scheme was announced, cattle futures plummeted sharply, instantly destroying significant equity for American ranchers. Ranchers argue that dumping massive quantities of cheap, government-subsidized foreign beef into the U.S. supply chain severely undercuts the prices they can charge for their own livestock, devastating their bottom lines.

Paramount, run by the Ellisons, should not own both CBS and CNN. California must not cave and take a deal that leaves both under the same owner.
Paramount Skydance is in “advanced talks” with California Attorney General Rob Bonta to settle the 12-state antitrust suit that’s holding up its takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery. A Paramount spokesperson declined to comment. A rep for Bonta’s office said, “Potential settlement talks are confidential. We cannot confirm or deny whether settlement talks are occurring or their alleged substance.” variety.com/2026/film/news/p…

If you were young in 2001, or weren’t even born yet, it can be hard to imagine what 9/11 felt like. The shock of that beautiful, cloudless morning. The heartbreak of the families whose loved ones were taken with such swiftness and cruelty. The realization that the forces of malevolence and violence were closer, and the future less certain, than we knew. But in the days that followed, we felt something else, too. Pride in the rescue workers who had rushed to the scene, and the passengers who had stormed the cockpit. Admiration for the men and women who left behind lives of comfort to serve their country. A deep resolve that nothing would break the will of a truly United States of America. Today Michelle and I are remembering those we lost that day, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed. We pray for their families. And we hope Americans everywhere remember the true lesson of 9/11: that we can survive even our darkest days as long as we move forward as one nation and one people.

I watched Trump’s speech at the Correspondents’ Dinner last night. It’s hard to articulate how sad it made me. Sad and embarrassed and exhausted. Here is the thing about a man who is a joke. He can’t tell one. People think humor is a talent. It isn’t. It’s a capacity. To make someone laugh you have to be able to laugh at yourself, and to laugh at yourself you have to step outside of yourself and see what everyone else sees. For one second you have to be just another person in the room. Most people can do this by the time they are nine years old. He has never once managed it. Not in fifty years of cameras. Not for a second. That is not a quirk. It is a symptom. The muscle that lets you tell a joke is the same one that lets you feel what another person feels. A man who cannot survive being laughed at cannot imagine being anyone but himself. He will only ever be generous when it is photographed. He will only ever be kind when it is filmed. There is a name for it. So he stood up there and did what he always does. He hit down. He made jokes about people’s weight. He made jokes about their intelligence. He made jokes about how women look. He read out the names of people he doesn’t like, and mocked them. Always mocking. And when no one laughed he blamed his speech writers. The cruelty dressed as humor has worn so thin. And for the 30% of you still in the cult who will inevitably call me a crackhead and blame it all on my Dad, all I can say is please, for the love of God, open your eyes. Wake the fuck up. Have some dignity. Have some pride. Joe Biden wasn’t standing at that podium last night. Donald Trump was. And at the end of it he put on a red hat that said Trump 2028 and told the room he was running again. No one laughed because everyone knows he has no intention of leaving. Just another joke at our expense.
