GOVERNOR MUTFWANG DELIVERS CONVOCATION LECTURE AT VERITAS UNIVERSITY, ABUJA, EXPRESSES HOPE FOR A BETTER NIGERIA The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Esq., has expressed optimism that Nigeria can emerge as a better, stronger and more prosperous nation, worthy of emulation, if citizens deliberately deploy the knowledge acquired from reputable institutions to advance national development, guided by wisdom, integrity, moral discipline and faith in God. Governor Mutfwang made this submission on Friday, November 5, 2026, while delivering the Convocation Lecture at the 15th Convocation Ceremony of Veritas University, Abuja, held at the University Auditorium in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory. The lecture, titled “Building the Nigeria We Want: The Role of the Educated Mind,” examined the responsibility of education and intellectual leadership in shaping a nation founded on justice, excellence, shared prosperity and enduring democratic values. The Governor expressed profound gratitude to the management of the University for the honour of inviting him to deliver the convocation lecture, describing the engagement as a valuable opportunity to reflect and exchange ideas with members of the academic community at a time when society is confronted with competing ideologies, emerging challenges and distractions that demand sound judgment, intellectual courage and moral clarity. Reaffirming his unwavering faith in the Nigerian project, Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the country's remarkable diversity, noting that the coming together of its different peoples, cultures, religions and traditions was not accidental but part of God's divine purpose. He stressed that Nigeria's diversity should be harnessed as a source of collective strength rather than a basis for division. He further emphasised the need for Nigerians to honour the social contract between the government and the governed, anchored on the principles of the rule of law, security, popular consent, access to education and healthcare, political participation, freedom of association and the preservation of human dignity. Governor Mutfwang placed the responsibility for building the Nigeria of our collective aspirations squarely on the educated mind, stressing that national transformation requires critical consciousness, the courage to think independently rather than merely follow, the discipline to distinguish truth from propaganda, the moral conviction to choose what is right over what is convenient, and the competence to translate ideas into tangible results. "Our nation is not short of people who mean well; it is short of people who can do well, who marry the will to the skill. Let your generation be known for both," the Governor admonished the graduands. He further observed that Nigeria had never suffered from a shortage of intelligence, as its citizens continue to distinguish themselves across various fields of human endeavour around the world. However, he noted that what the country urgently needs is intelligence anchored in integrity and brilliance committed to selfless service. Governor Mutfwang charged the graduands to deploy their acquired knowledge, skills and intellectual capacities towards rebuilding Nigeria, urging them not to lose faith in their country, irrespective of where their professional and personal aspirations may take them. He reminded them that nations admired for their progress were not built by their brightest citizens abandoning them, but by people who remained committed to contributing to the development of their societies. "The nations you admire were not built by their finest people departing. If your path leads abroad, let your success flow homeward, in knowledge, investment, mentorship, and the stubborn refusal to write off the country that made you.

The same stadium that was abandoned by his predecessors? Development shouldn't be dismissed simply because it took longer than promised. The people will benefit from the improved facility, and that's what should count. Let's give credit where it's due. Shun political sentiments
Dem don dey rush to paint abandoned Zaria Road stadium, fix seats ahead of Tinubu’s campaign visit Shame kawai same stadium that Mutfwang lied he was going to fix in his first 1year in office

If the stadium is finally getting attention, shouldn't we welcom the improvement than reject it bcos of the timing?Don't forget abt Rwang Pam.A facelift today is better than continued neglect 2moro. Let's demand consistency without turning every development into political warfare
Plateau United fans & visiting fans deserve a decorated stadium at the very least but they never got one, as soon as APC heard the President is coming boom, Stadium got a face lift.... I don't even blame these men in power, na we dey defend their shabbiness, we always find reasons in everything they do even when the rest of the world sees their woes 💔

Demand accountability, but acknowledge progress too. Gov @CalebMutfwang met Plateau in debt. Today, close to 70 percent of debts are paid, workers are paid, projects are back, stadium is coming back, dry port is back. That is progress. Plateau is far better than it was.
Fiscal performance is one measure of governance, not the entire story. Every state has its strengths and challenges. Demand accountability, but acknowledge progress too. We recognise the work @CalebMutfwang is doing; Plateau State is far better than it was. We are moving forward!

Funny how every project suddenly becomes a campaign strategy. A stadium isn't just for elections; it's an investment in sports, tourism, youth development and the economy. Judge projects by their long term value, not political sentiments. Plateau deserves development!
They said it wouldn't be smart for Mutfwang to be working on two stadiums, lmao them don use taxpayer money paint stadium because APC wan do campaign. Tirrr

Calling it abandoned doesn't change the fact that maintaining public infrastructure is a government responsibility. Repainting, fixing seats n improving facilities are not crimes. Rather than politicise every development effort, let's encourage the rehabilitation of public assets

Rwang Pam Stadium is already about 70% complete,so what's wrong wit giving an existing stadium a facelift? Government has a responsibility to build new infrastructure n maintain existing ones. Nt everytin is campaign politics;sometimes, gud governance is simply doing de right tin

GOVERNOR MUTFWANG BACKS GOSA ENDOWMENT FUND Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang,Esq., has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development of Gindiri Schools, with the ongoing investments in solar electricity, water supply and security infrastructure within the mission compound. The Governor disclosed this on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, when the National Executive Council of the Gindiri Old Students Association (GOSA) paid him a courtesy visit at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos. He said plans were being finalised for the establishment of a GOSA endowment fund and a Gindiri Renewal Project to address the institution’s growing financial and infrastructural needs and ensure its long-term sustainability. Mutfwang explained that the changing realities of education financing had made it necessary for alumni and other stakeholders to mobilise greater resources to sustain the institution, noting that the missionary framework under which Gindiri was established could no longer adequately meet present-day demands. “The reality of today is that you cannot sustain Gindiri on the framework the missionaries set up. In those days, Gindiri teachers collected less than government workers, and they were content to stay in Gindiri. Now, you want to keep somebody in Gindiri, you have to pay him better than a government worker. That is the reality, and we have to find the funds to do it,” he said. The Governor recalled the sacrifice and commitment of Dr. Kalkum, who left Germany for England before travelling to Africa and arriving in the area in 1904 to advance the mission’s work. He urged GOSA members to preserve the values of service, unity and selflessness that shaped the institution and its alumni. He described GOSA as an outstanding example of an alumni association, commending the enduring bonds among its members across generations and social backgrounds. “Gindiri, essentially, was a melting pot where people from diverse backgrounds and various societal levels came together, and we became one. There is something that is ingrained in us, so that today, when you meet your classmate, it does not matter whether you are placed; there is that connection,” he said. Governor Mutfwang stressed the importance of transferring these values to younger generations, adding that public service and community development should be driven by love, sacrifice and a genuine commitment to meeting the needs of others. He cited a recent free medical outreach that had attracted nearly 8,000 beneficiaries, exceeding the initial target of about 6,000, with approximately 200 medical personnel volunteering their services as an example of the spirit of service he encouraged. On various interventions at the mission compound, the Governor disclosed that a 1.5-megawatt solar electricity project was being installed to address the institution’s power needs. He added that plans were underway for a water supply scheme to serve the entire compound and the completion of perimeter fencing to strengthen security. Mutfwang expressed appreciation to GOSA members and previous leaders of the state who had contributed to Plateau’s development, pledging that his administration would continue to work towards leaving the state better than it found it. The Governor also assured the association of his participation in its forthcoming reunion service, while urging members to sustain their spirit of brotherly love and support for Gindiri, regardless of their individual financial capacities. Earlier, the GOSA National President, who also serves as Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Arc. Samuel Nanchang Jatau, invited the Governor to the association’s 2026 convention and reunion service.

PLATEAU STATE STADIUM PROJECT HITS 70% COMPLETION AS MUTFWANG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SPORTS AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT The ongoing reconstruction and upgrade of the Plateau State Stadium has reached approximately 70% completion, with major concrete works completed and attention shifting to interior finishing, dressing rooms, roofing, plastering and other essential fittings. The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Suleiman Yakunde, who provided an update on the project, expressed confidence that work would be accelerated to achieve full completion before the end of the month. Beyond the physical transformation of the stadium, the project represents a significant investment in the future of sports on the Plateau. According to the Chairman of the Plateau State Football Association, the facility will provide a much-needed platform for football and other sporting activities, creating opportunities for Plateau United, other local teams and potentially national football competitions. The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports also commended Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his remarkable interventions in sports development, including the provision of sporting equipment, training and retraining of coaches, support for sporting associations and increased opportunities for young people. He further highlighted the Governor's commitment to youth inclusion in governance, noting that young people now occupy significant positions across the State Executive Council, boards, agencies, local governments and other levels of leadership. From rebuilding sporting infrastructure to empowering young people to take up leadership responsibilities, the Mutfwang administration continues to demonstrate that investing in the youth is investing in the future of Plateau State. A new era for sports. A new generation of leaders. A Plateau moving forward.

Thank you, Your Excellency, Governor @CalebMutfwang, for demonstrating purposeful leadership and giving Plateau a voice in the national conversation on peace, security and unity. Your commitment to dialogue, collaboration and peaceful coexistence is commendable #TheTimeIsNow2027
It was a great honour and privilege to accompany our revered father and elder statesman, General T. Y. Danjuma, alongside other distinguished leaders of the Middle Belt, on a strategic engagement with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The meeting provided an important opportunity to deliberate on critical national issues, particularly the security of lives and property, peacebuilding, the restoration of trust, and the promotion of social cohesion among our people. We emphasised the urgent need for sustained collaboration, mutual understanding, and collective responsibility in addressing the challenges confronting our communities while galvanising citizens towards the shared vision of a better Nigeria. We commended President Tinubu for his decisive leadership and ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation's security architecture, safeguard lives and property, and implement policies aimed at improving the living conditions of Nigerians. As leaders, we recognise that the responsibility of building a peaceful, secure, and prosperous society cannot rest on government alone. It requires purposeful leadership, genuine partnership, and a shared commitment across all generations. We are therefore determined to speak with one voice, work together, and encourage our youths to take ownership of peace and security within their respective communities while promoting dialogue, tolerance, and harmonious coexistence. Our collective resolve is to build bridges of understanding, strengthen confidence among our people, and create an environment where every citizen, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political affiliation, can live in peace, pursue legitimate aspirations, and contribute meaningfully to national development.

POSITIONING PLATEAU STATE AS A HUB FOR INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING, TRADE AND INVESTMENT On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, I had the pleasure of declaring open the 11th Jos National Trade Fair, organised by the Plateau State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PLACCIMA), at the Jos Polo Field, Jos. The occasion provided an opportunity to reaffirm my administration’s commitment to transforming Plateau State into a major hub for industrial processing, commerce and investment within the next two to three years. Our vision is to build an economy that harnesses our agricultural potential, strengthens local industries, attracts investment and creates sustainable employment opportunities for our people, particularly our young people. As part of this commitment, I announced plans to establish a permanent Trade Fair and Exhibition Complex in Plateau State. This facility will provide a year-round platform for manufacturers, entrepreneurs, investors and traders to showcase their products, build partnerships and expand commercial opportunities. I have directed the relevant stakeholders to commence preparations for the next edition of the trade fair and constituted a committee, chaired by Elder Mulus Daring, to identify suitable locations for the proposed complex. We are equally making progress in revitalising our tourism and industrial sectors. Hill Station Hotel has resumed operations, while efforts are ongoing to revive Plateau Hotel and other dormant industries. We are also pursuing the development of a modern abattoir with the capacity to process up to 500 cattle daily, creating opportunities across the livestock value chain. During my recent visit to China, we secured a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese investors towards establishing an industrial park in Plateau State. This investment, alongside ongoing efforts to improve energy supply and the business environment, forms part of our broader industrialisation agenda. Agriculture remains central to our economic transformation. We are working to revitalise potato production, strengthen the Plateau Potato brand and establish processing and cold-chain facilities for potatoes, vegetables and fruits. These investments will help reduce post-harvest losses, improve farmers’ earnings and expand access to domestic and international markets. We are also engaging Nigerian Breweries on opportunities to expand barley production and strengthen partnerships between our farmers and industrial manufacturers. Beyond agriculture and industry, we are investing in the future of our young people through technology, innovation and digital employment. Our proposed Business Process Outsourcing Centre at the former MTN facility in Bukuru is expected to provide training and employment opportunities for 1,800 Plateau youths, connecting them to companies and opportunities within the global digital economy. In partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), we are also advancing plans for an innovation centre at Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi. Furthermore, we have made a budgetary provision of ₦1 billion to support research and innovative solutions developed by Plateau indigenes across various institutions. We remain committed to improving the ease of doing business, facilitating access to land for genuine investors and creating an environment where businesses can thrive. The theme of this year’s trade fair, “Harnessing Agriculture and Livestock Value Chains for Food Security, Job Creation and Shared Prosperity,” reflects the direction of our economic agenda. I commend PLACCIMA, the organising committee, participating exhibitors and our partners from within and outside Nigeria for their contributions towards promoting trade and investment in Plateau State. The time for Plateau State to rise commercially, industrially and economically is now.

Today, I inaugurated the Plateau State Chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement at Langfield Event Centre, Little Rayfield, Jos, and commissioned 25 campaign vehicles donated by the movement’s Grand Patron, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo. The occasion provided an opportunity to reaffirm my support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his re-election in 2027. My conviction about his leadership took shape during our personal interaction shortly after the 2023 general elections. Even though we belonged to different political parties at the time, I saw a leader committed to making Nigeria better. We recognise the economic and security challenges confronting our country. These realities demand honest acknowledgment and sustained action. While we have yet to reach our destination, I believe the steps being taken are moving us towards lasting improvements. I appeal to Nigerians to remain patient as ongoing reforms take firmer root. For us in Plateau State, the support of the President remains particularly significant in our pursuit of peace and security. We will continue to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government to dismantle criminal networks, protect our communities and restore lasting peace. The proposed dualisation of the Mararaban Jama’a–Mangu–Pankshin–Langtang–Shendam road corridor, extending across River Ibi, also holds considerable promise for our people. A technical team from the Federal Ministry of Works is already in the state undertaking preliminary work, and I am hopeful that the necessary details will be concluded before the end of the year. For communities that have endured inadequate road infrastructure for decades, this project represents an opportunity to improve connectivity, strengthen commerce and open up new economic possibilities. As we prepare to host President Tinubu on November 14, 2026, at Zaria Road Stadium, I have charged members of the movement to deepen engagement across our local government areas, wards and polling units. I encouraged each member to mobilise 50 people for the rally as we demonstrate our support for the President. Our engagement must remain peaceful, responsible and rooted in meaningful conversations with the people. We must listen to their concerns, explain our convictions clearly and conduct ourselves with respect. I appreciate High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo for donating the 25 vehicles to support the movement’s grassroots outreach. I urge those entrusted with them to use them responsibly and strictly for their intended purpose. Earlier, I received the movement’s leadership on a courtesy visit to my office, where we reaffirmed our commitment to mobilising support for President Tinubu and other APC candidates. I also acknowledge the participation of the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, party leaders, stakeholders and members of the movement. Effective coordination will be essential as we strengthen engagement across the state. Our responsibility remains clear: to pursue peace, advance development and build partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to the people of Plateau State.
