A combat injury shouldn’t cause a service member to lose retirement compensation simply because that injury ended their military career before they could reach 20 years. The Star Act is about how the nation compensates those whose careers were cut short by service-connected and combat-related disabilities.

CENTCOM Statement on Recently Fallen, Missing U.S. Service Members
TAMPA, Fla. — On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. Additionally, one service member is currently missing.
Four American service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals. They have since been discharged. Other personnel who were evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty.
Out of respect for the families, CENTCOM will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen warriors, until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified.

The VA bill this Thursday needs serious changes. I will be signing the discharge petition to bring the Major Richard Star Act to the floor that will ensure it is voted on as a stand alone bill.
All our veterans who served should be fully eligible for disability pay and we should not be offsetting some disabilities to pay for others.
We need to find a way where all our veterans are fully taken care of.
