"How often does it feel like you set students up with a goal and then they never use it?"
T @jessmaczzone saw this problem in her classroom – so she created these simple, goal-setting bookmarks:
#TeacherLeaders

ALT Photograph of a narrow sheet of paper titled "#Goals! I'm working on ..." Below, there are three post-it notes: "Make predictions based on text evidence," "Track character traits," "Keep an eye on the problem(s)". On the second slide, there are tally marks and dates on the opposite side of the bookmark, indicating when and how much each goal has been worked on.

Tip #3: Choose and Plan Your Read Alouds
Need a great beach read? Grab your first unit read aloud(s) and get an invaluable jumpstart on your planning while you soak up the summer sun.
Remember, read aloud is a place to reinforce ALL the work of your unit.

What You Can Do NOW to Prep For Fall
Tip #1: Think About Transfer
Summer slide got you down? Not anymore! Help your students by reminding them what they already know from last year. Make explicit connections between what they've already done and what they're about to do.

Tip #2: Unpack Your First Units
You can get a jumpstart on unit planning right now! It helps to orient to the unit by:
*Reading the Overview
*Studying the Anchor Charts
*Looking at the “In This Session” Sections
*Flagging and Labeling Small Groups & Conferences
