Equally fascinating:
3 U.S. states produced 70-78% of their electricity demand with just wind for a full year (Oct 1, '23-Sep 30, '24)
SD: 77.5% wind
IA: 76.6%
KS: 69.82%
Another 4 produced 46-51% wind:
OK: 51.4%
WY: 49.7%
NM: 46.3%
ND: 48.5%

Fascinating new @EIAgov data

77.5% Wind
30.1% Water
2.2% Solar
Also produced 16.8% gas, 11.7% coal
So SD produced 138% of demand, exporting 38%

ALT Quote from the author Sally Rooney that says - "What gives multinational corporations the right to pollute the air we breathe, drain our groundwater and exhaust our planet’s dwindling resources – and deprives us of the right to stop them? One powerful idea: private property. Because the rich own things, and the poor do not, it is legal for the rich to destroy Earth and illegal for the poor to stop them. "

BTW in the column that so aggrieved Andreessen I note that Facebook, Google and Amazon have destroyed local journalism, and note that if they paid news organizations what they should them they would be handing over between $12bn and $14bn a year.
He did not screenshot that.

This brilliant piece by Doha Mekki on the long and important relationship between antitrust and racial justice is well worth your time. Read, think on it, share.
Replying to @BedoyaUSA
7/ But PDAAAG Mekki makes the more important point that antitrust and civil rights are both born of the same older, larger struggle to secure the rights of ordinary people against powerful. It is a must read. justice.gov/opa/speech/princ…

It has become clear that constructive, supportive ideas developed some time ago on the international climate negotiations have been misinterpreted in today's context — so I want to make unequivocal our conviction:
The COP process is an essential and irreplaceable vehicle for supporting the multilateral, multisectoral, systemic change we urgently need. Now more than ever.
We are committed allies to and advocates for this process — and lend our total support to positive efforts underway to further strengthen it for the new era of implementation we are entering into.
As the UN, countries, and the groundswell of non-state actors have demonstrated — we all need COP29 to deliver the leadership that people, communities, businesses urgently want and need.

Still telling it as it is! Still a real leader!
Today the climate meeting #COP29 starts in Baku. During Cop, the picture of Azerbaijan reported by the media will be a whitewashed and greenwashed version that the regime is desperate to portray. But make no mistake – it is a repressive state accused of ethnic cleansing.
