This year, my wife and I were supposed to be preparing to welcome our first child into the world.
We had a plan. We were losing weight, taking medications, making healthier choices, and doing everything we could to give ourselves the best chance of becoming parents.
We dreamed about the day we’d finally hear the words, “You’re going to be parents.”
Then cancer changed everything.
My wife was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer.
Instead of preparing for a baby, we’re preparing for chemotherapy. Instead of celebrating a pregnancy, we’re sitting in doctors’ offices discussing cancer treatments, survival, and the possibility that chemotherapy could affect her ability to have children.
And now, our insurance won’t cover the cost of freezing her eggs before treatment.
I can’t explain how heartbreaking it is to watch the woman you love fight for her health while also facing the possibility of losing the future you’ve both dreamed about.
I want my wife to survive cancer. More than anything. But I also want her to have the chance to become the mother she’s dreamed of being.
We’re not asking for a guarantee that we’ll have a baby. We’re simply fighting for the opportunity to try.
Cancer has already taken so much from us. We’re praying it doesn’t take away our chance to become parents, too.
So today, I’m putting our story out into the world and asking for help.
If you’re able to contribute toward her fertility preservation, no amount is too small. If you know of grants or organizations that can help, please reach out.
And if you can’t donate, please share our story. One repost could reach someone who can make a difference.
My wife is fighting for her life. I’m fighting for the future we planned to share.

🚨🚨San Francisco #49ers star QB Brock Purdy has admitted that on approximately 40% of his passes, he does not have a direct line of sight to his intended receiver.
Purdy explained that, because he is "shorter in stature," he relies almost entirely on anticipation and spatial awareness.
