We lost one of the greats of stage and screen today. And, in my book, a tremendous friend and man. I learned so much from him. I will miss you, Patrick Stewart, all of my days. @mang0ld

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

Andy Reid/Brett Veach/Clark Hunt should 100% be called out today for failing to address Harrison Bukter’s clear decline last offseason when legit options were on the table.
As a result of that, Andy is returning to his “second-chance” well that is a either a good or evil (depending on perspective) of him being the decision maker in the org by having to settle for Justin Tucker to push Butker.

Andy Reid’s presser today was probably the most I’ve ever seen him pressed about something (rightfully so) since he’s been KC.
Some of those questions about both Kickers were legitimately hard to answer and man… the answers were not great.

To be clear, the Chiefs have trainers, some of them women, who would have to treat this guy.
Huge unforced error by the Chiefs.

The NFL spent a decade selling Justin Tucker as the golden-boy family man of Baltimore.
Today in Kansas City, the reality of the business took over: Andy Reid was shoved to a microphone to face five straight minutes of questions about female fans.
Let’s cut through the public relations spin.
Tucker served a 10-game suspension after 16 massage therapists accused him of sexual misconduct. A general manager does not bring an asset carrying that level of radioactive fallout into the building without direct, explicit sign-off from ownership.
Clark Hunt approved this deal. GM Brett Veach drew up the paperwork.
Yet when the controversy hit, Veach and Hunt stayed upstairs behind tinted glass. They sent their 68-year-old head coach to the podium to deflect moral questions with boilerplate lines like "He served his suspension, we did our homework."
The Chiefs front office doesn't care about moral consistency, wholesome branding, or their female fan base.
Harrison Butker missed kicks, a championship window is open, and executive suites will always trade ethics for three points on Sunday.

Going on the record that I hope Justin Tucker never plays a snap for the Chiefs.
For those wondering, I feel the same way about Tyreek.
If you want to hear my deeper thoughts about a potential Tyreek signing (many apply to Tucker), I did them 2 weeks ago, and here they are. youtu.be/-aTBGWtUQ0g?is=vjPG…

Yes he has quite the resume Ian, thank you. Shall we look at what the Google machine pulls up for the last couple years? Hmmm, 16 allegations of sexual misconduct, a 10 game suspension from the NFL, and a terrible 73% on FGs in 2024. I feel like this is a Norm Macdonald bit “wow that’s the first I’m hearing of this!”
The #Chiefs worked out three kickers and kept both Justin Tucker and Harrison Mevis around all day, giving them both physicals after similarly impressive workouts. In the end, with the experience and resume, Tucker gets the PS spot.

Replying to @GregJennings
@GregJennings: “Nico Collins to the Chiefs.”
@getnickwright: “Send it in.”
Greg: “You have to have a difference maker. You cannot continue to patchwork this if you are the Chiefs.”
Do Chiefs have to trade for a WR?
Macklemore kicks off his “Free Palestine” tour with a call for unity just over a month after being dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour over his political remarks onstage:
“Six weeks ago, it was two words. Two words is all that it took. Two words that are rooted in love and liberation. Not against anybody, not divisive. Not a call for hatred. But a call to recognize our shared humanity. Free Palestine. I said free Palestine! The same thing that I want for all of us, freedom, dignity, the right to exist without fear. Being able to raise our children in the homes that we grew up in, not having to prove our humanity to the rest of the world."
