This is a good point. It reminds me of 2024 when Democrats forced Joe Biden to step aside after realizing he lacked cognitive capacity to serve, and Republicans were so appreciative they stopped talking about Biden and focused exclusively on the merits of nominee Kamala Harris.
If Diego Morales was so corrupt as Indiana SOS, then why didn't Indiana's heavy hitters withdraw their support for his reelection, stage a very public coup against him, run their own candidates, and oust him at the state convention? Oh, wait.

I was a youth worker from 2010-2015. Now, my oldest is about to head to high school. I love this idea of giving teens hands-on experience with voting machines through mock elections. Take the anxiety out of voting, reduce friction, and get more active voters.
Today, I announced a program to encourage the next generation of voters to comfortably go to the polls. I outlined pieces of the plan during an event this week at Hamilton Southeastern High School hosted by Rho Kappa, the school’s social studies honor society. The full plan would get young Hoosiers thinking about voting before they are eligible to cast a real ballot and familiarize them with the process. My proposal is designed to help address the fact that Indiana has consistently finished in the bottom ten states for voter turnout. As Secretary of State, I would: 1. Bring mobile voting machines into Indiana high schools interested in the program, so students can run mock elections on the same kind of equipment their county will use on Election Day. 2. Register on-site every eligible 18-year-old student who wants to register to vote. 3. Work with the Indiana General Assembly to make it legal to pre-register 17-year-olds in high school. Ten states already allow at least some 17-year-olds to pre-register. The first time a young Hoosier votes shouldn't be the first time they've seen a voting machine. Bring voting machines to schools, let students practice, and get them registered while they're there. I hope that if young people feel confident to start voting right at age 18, they will be more likely to keep voting throughout their lives and encourage others to also go to the polls.

I, too, am requesting a trade from Indianapolis. I'll take a league-minimum contract and am happy to follow Q to the Pacific Northwest.

Thank you, Rev. Harrison, for your support and kind words. The Secretary of State should act in the best interests of Hoosiers, not political parties. I am committed to doing just that.
I have been a registered Democrat for 45 years. In the past, I voted based on my party affiliation. I no longer do so, as doing so can prevent voters from selecting the best candidate. I believe Greg Ballard is the best candidate for Secretary of State. He served exceptionally well as mayor of Indianapolis during his two terms. He is a principled, honest, and compassionate person who would always put people first, even when doing so means opposing his own party. What American politics lacks today is elected officials who prioritize the people and do what is right, even when it conflicts with their party’s position. Greg Ballard is the kind of politician American politics needs today: someone who puts people first and will not compromise on what is right. Indiana, things will never get better until we begin electing candidates who put the people ahead of the extreme political positions that characterize our politics today.

Two great choices in this years Secretary of State race. A candidate that can form a party to hold Republicans accountable for years to come. Or a candidate that is committed to ensuring we get the truth about how rotten Diego Morales actually was. I’m just sad I couldn’t split the vote. The fire sale begins…
Trade: Colts have agreed to send eight-time Pro-Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, per me and @rapsheet. Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts are opting to get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency. But an all-time Colt now moves on to the Seahawks.

In 2015, I had gathered all the signatures required to run as an independent candidate for mayor of Indianapolis. I dropped out of the race at the last moment, just before my name would have appeared on the November ballot. I learned a lot in that process. The two-party system, with its ability to raise money and party backing, makes it difficult for an independent candidate to run, compete on a level playing field, and win.

Our third ad was just released. The Secretary of State oversees every election in Indiana and should NEVER appear to favor one candidate over another. I’m Greg Ballard, former Republican mayor of Indianapolis, and I’m running for Secretary of State as an independent. I’m the only one in this race who has publicly committed not to endorse, campaign for, or donate to other candidates on the ballot while I’m in office. If you agree that the person overseeing our elections shouldn't pick sides, I’m asking for your vote on or before November 3rd.

Is Trump saying Max will spend his time in office focused on a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with the office? It’s wild how if you look at the legacy party candidates messaging, the Secretary of State has become Godlike in its ability to fix everything, everywhere, all at once. 🤷‍♂️

Greg Ballard has had conversations with law enforcement already. He will bring them in once elected. The IG had a chance and did nothing.
A reminder for all the “Inspector General’s on it” people re Diego: I filed a complaint a year and a half ago. I’ve never heard a word since. The Inspector General ain’t gonna do crap. If you vote for Engling, you’re voting to cover up Diego.

As we predicted, this debate is infinitely less entertaining than the first one. Ballard really added a lot. Bad move by Fox 59 kicking him and Shillings off the stage.
