ABB is a large international hardware company. ABB makes electric power systems, including a lot of the large electrical hardware at many Tesla Supercharger installations around the world. ABB restructured parts of their company, some of the product engineering parts and some of HR and other areas, to give the engineers more authority. The leader said they wanted real agile, where engineers don't wait to be told what products to build, but proactively try products in the market to find what helps customers and grows the company. That was 3 years ago. They wanted to re-energize the staff. They requested me to give a shocking, exciting, inspiring keynote about engineers as product leaders to reduce waiting and increase innovation. They joined from offices in Italy and Switzerland and I joined remote from Japan. I am so so grateful the ABB sponsors then let me share the recording publicly.
I love my old castle for tonight!! Maybe few people are into castles? My dad was into cowboys 🤠. I was into castles.🏰 hmm… 🤔
It is a lovely world, every part of it, but maybe it is also true, maybe pace of innovation is the only thing that matters in the long run…
If you do not know what this little chocolate cup is, you should go to Portugal.
If you do know what this little chocolate cup is, you should also go to Portugal.
Arrived arrived in arrived in Slovenia jet lagged but so happy to have a castle all to myself for a night!
That would make sense.
Yes this.
Yann’s comment on the Roadster reminded me of another Stanford professor I interacted with years ago. Highly positioned and theoretically brilliant, they can’t turn numbers into coordinated atoms.
Their manufacturing knowledge came from The Economist. Factory visits involved VIP treatment with executives as workers buzzed around. They don’t grasp how atoms move in production or the ingenuity of turning equations into reality through choreographed coordination.
The most impressive manufacturing engineers I’ve worked with weren’t Ivy League graduates, yet they create things that catch your heart. They turn theoretical math into reality—the real magicians.
A month at Tesla taught me more than the most prestigious school could.
So, I didn’t dream I’d be that millionaire race car team owner guy, but, I somehow went directly from the awards ceremony and a new lap record to a business class champagne to Europe? I feel like I’m a junior mogul in some movie. TY TSLA stock!
Here is the lap video! Tesla Model S Plaid, official lap time from @JEVRA_jp , @HJitosho_racing , returning champion, laps Tsukuba in under 1 minute, on normal steel belted road tires (A052). I verified by @fastestlaps (email submission already sent), this is a new record!
