As a fan of EDM and pokemon, Pokemon Night Out was mid. My quick thoughts:
- Swag bag was cool
- A super solid set that was not a press play set
- Decent visuals
- But there was a LACK of Pokemon and actions. Like the coolest to me was Pikachu bopping and Kyoger/Groudon fight
I went to Pokemon Night Out in LA last night and here's some thoughts.
I was an EDM producer and DJ for 12 years before YouTube, I've played on stages, clubs, podcast, radio shows, and over 1000 weddings in my career. And Obviously I'm a Pokemon Fan.
Marshmellow’s set was perfectly fine. But it was just a very generic EDC/Ultra set and wasn’t pokemon-centric at all. There’s a lot of Pokemon-related EDM songs (like Pika Pika by Steve Aoki) and a lot of great bootlegs of tracks like Lavander Town. So it was sad to see NO song selection related to the theme.
Anytime you see visuals synchronized (words on screen, etc) it is a clear sign it’s a prerecorded set, which is the industry standard for big performances.
There was a LOT of people sitting or standing on the floor, never moving, the bars were all empty, not singing any lyrics and just taking video… BUT anytime a pokemon appeared on screen, the stadium cheered. It was the strangest thing. There were some FAT drops, but Gengar showing up during a melody break got a bigger reaction.
It was just an interesting mashup of an event. It was a GREAT EDM show, but I feel like the theme drew a generally non-interested crowd.
So you had the rights to make a Marvel and Star Wars crossover shooter, genuinely an insane level collab, and you’ve just switched up and decided to make it slop for no reason other than the boss’ own fragile ego because he’s butt hurt on Twitter than no one likes AI
Epic Games has internally delayed the release of a shooter game they’ve been developing featuring Star Wars & Marvel characters.
• Developers on the game have now been told to only use AI to write the code — “No more hand-written code”
• All art for the game would be “generated with full AI workflows”

Gen Z has become the most active cinemagoing demographic.
“What’s especially notable is how strongly they value the shared, communal aspect of the experience, reinforcing that theaters continue to play an important role as a social destination for younger audiences.”

Absolutely no hate to this person whatsoever but the NSO catalog VS Virtual Console debate has no winner
If Nintendo threw the OG Gamecube games on the eShop for $20 people would absolutely complain that the price is too high and say "Bruh you can buy Silksong for that 💀" – at Los Angeles, CA
